Dana White vs. Canelo Alvarez—who's really got the bigger draw power? Let's hear your thoughts!

September 14 would witness the face-off between two heavyweights in the combat sports world as Dana White and Canelo Alvarez are going to clash in Las Vegas. On the one hand, it’s the UFC with their Riyadh Season Noche event that’s going to happen at the Sphere. On the other side of the coin, it’s the marquee boxing event between Canelo Alvarez and Edgar Berlanga at MGM property T-Mobile Arena. The head honcho of the UFC has already invested a massive $20 million to make the UFC Sphere a once-in-a-lifetime entertainment event, and he believes he has no competition, even with Alvarez in the picture.

However, ͏the sharp drop in ticket prices for the Sphere event is p͏aintin͏g a͏ different picture. Initially, when t͏ick͏ets for the highly anticipated UFC event were released in late͏ July, ͏the lowest available seats were priced at around ͏$3,000. Today, how͏ever, Tic͏ket͏ma͏ster is ͏sho͏wing ͏ava͏ilable tic͏kets ͏starting at $700. Well, in his latest escapade, White has come forward to ascertain that they are still at the top.

“Maybe other boxing matches, maybe, but Canelo is different. There are other kind of fights, but Canelo is just different. I don’t care if the UFC is there, when Canelo fights, it’s different,” roared Canelo Alvarez as he was asked about competing against UFC. Well, his words could ring true as the top brass of the promotion could be worried about the developments as the fateful date arrives. Recently, in a conversation with ‘Grind City Media,‘ Dana White was asked about the potential competition with Canelo Alvarez on September 14. The UFC CEO asserted that there’s no competition, “I was going on this date no matter what last year.”

He further added, “They won on this date, but I think they were in Mexico. You know the MGM, you know that whole story; I’ve said it a million times. But we’re going to the sphere that night, whatever’s going on, we’re going to be sold out. I don’t know, it doesn’t matter. MGM’s guaranteeing their gate, so it doesn’t matter what happens for them. But I’m doing what I’m going to do on Saturday night.”

White teases explosive action at UFC Noche

Dana White has promised to deliver an enthralling UFC Noche event as they aim to put out a one-of-a-kind event at The Sphere in Las Vegas. Despite White’s confidence in keeping the Mexican boxer at bay, the reality could prove different. Canelo Alvarez has the ability and box office appeal to put a stain on the UFC’s marquee event. Nevertheless, the Sean O’Malley vs Merab Dvalishvili headlining event is set to become the greatest event in sporting history, as per Dana White. The UFC CEO is hell-bent on delivering an experience that will put Alvarez’s name in the shadow of the UFC.

While in conversation at the DWCS press conference, White was asked whether he would be able to deliver at the UFC Sphere, to which the CEO replied, “I’m extremely confident. You know, I have sat in there and looked at the stuff already. We looked—so, I don’t know if I told you guys this last time I talked to you, but we walked into the Sphere. I ain’t gonna lie, there was a lot of pressure on me, and I was thinking about all these different things…. It’s going to be awesome. It’s just about execution now.”
