UFC Hall of Famer and the first UFC heavyweight champion, Mark Coleman, is currently fighting for his life in a hospital bed. His condition is stated to be critical after smoke inhalation from a fire in his home. Reports suggest that Coleman’s heroic act to save his parents from his burning house took a heavy toll on him and he had to be airlifted to the hospital urgently.

Coleman succeeded in saving his parents from the fire but he was unable to save his dog, Hammer, in time. Despite Coleman’s heroics, the poor dog succumbed to his injuries. In the wake of the tragedy, Coleman’s daughter, Kenzie Coleman has urged the world to pray for her father as he is in hospital.

Mark Coleman’s daughter, Kenzie Coleman, has been worried sick about the wellbeing of her father, who is in a medically induced coma right now. On her Instagram handle, she shared a photo of them together on her story with a caption that read “I woke up today with some of the most devastating news. Anyone who knows me knows my dad is my world. Whatever you believe in, please keep my dad and family in your thoughts and prayers. I love you, Daddy. If anyone can get through this, it’s you.”

She further added, “My dog already got taken from me. Please don’t take my daddy, and RIP to my puppy who was my world. He saved my dad’s life by barking until he woke up.” In a second IG story, she further added, “I will miss my little boy every single day. My heart os so shattered. My puppy meant the world to me. Please don’t take my daddy too.”

On Tuesday, March 12, 2024, a raging fire broke out in the kitchen of the Coleman residence in the early morning. While the entire family was fast asleep, Hammer, the Coleman family dog, sensed something was amiss. Without hesitation, Hammer barked persistently until he roused Coleman from sleep. The retired UFC star wasted no time and rushed inside to save his parents.

He took his father out of the burning house and then went back in to save his mother. On his third trip, Coleman was tired enough, and the smoke was giving him a hard time, so he soon collapsed in the burning house. Thankfully, the Ballville Volunteer Fire Department arrived at the incident on time and saved Coleman. However, Hammer had to lay down his life as a hero and Coleman is in the hospital right now.

There have been no further developments about the story, but one thing is for sure: Coleman’s grit to survive. The retired fighter is known to make a comeback from hefty situations.
