OpenAI has just announced the commercial launch of Sora, its generative text-to-video artificial intelligence. In February of this year, they showed their first tests, which were a step beyond what we thought could be done this year. In fact, what they are putting in the hands of the public today is not Sora, but Sora Turbo, a much faster version, according to OpenAI. The trailer of the AI tool came to light and it truly left fans stunned. One notable entity who expressed his amazement was none other than Joe Rogan.
Taking to his Instagram story, Joe Rogan shared the video made by Sora for all his fans to see. From animals such as monkeys to sea creatures such as the Kraken, Sora truly soared high as it gave fans a small visual treat. With this, OpenAI has once again shown that it is above the rest when it comes to innovation in AI models. It also offers a consistency that we have not seen in videos generated by rivals such as Runway’s Gen-3 Alpha.
OpenAI acknowledges that the Sora that arrives today is not without limitations, as it often generates videos with unrealistic physics. It also struggles with complex actions that unfold over long periods. As for the economics, OpenAI is also trying to make it affordable for all.

Something that Joe Rogan would truly love, as he is a big technology buff. Even a few days ago, he shared a video of a self-driving cab that he saw on the road and couldn’t help but admire how advanced our civilization had become with such inventions. That is why he also often brings guests like Elon Musk on his podcast.

In fact, a few weeks ago, Joe Rogan invited Elon Musk again on his podcast and this time they discussed AI and Musk’s very own Grok. The Tesla CEO even revealed a major feature of his AI tool as it made jokes to make Joe Rogan laugh. However, it failed to do so. The UFC commentator said, “Yeah, it needs a little work. Well, humor is a weird one, right? It’s like, I think some humor, especially like some of the best humor, is kind of spontaneous, like in-the-moment humor. It’s going to have a hard time deciding what people are going to think is funny.” But when it comes to Sora, it impressed him so much that it earned a shout-out. But wasn’t just Rogan who was all praise for the new OpenAI creation.
Fans can’t help but praise the amazing AI tool
As soon as the trailer made by Sora hit the internet, fans were quick to share their reactions to it. Now with this tool, fans can create their very own Hollywood-style movies, putting the trillion-dollar industry in jeopardy. The caption of the video read, “RIP Hollywood? OpenAI just released Sora to the public, the world’s most advanced AI model video.” It seems like fans actually agree with the opinion. Taking to the comment section of the video, many took shots at Hollywood and claimed that now they will be getting better movies to watch. The fans wrote, “Well, Hollywood was getting very boring,” “Hollywood and actors are DONE” and “Make movies fun again.”

While some other fans were more excited about the idea that they could make their movies now. Some fans wished to re-create iconic scenes, movies, and clips, while others were interested in taking on other backstage roles as well. Sharing their desires in the comments, they shared, “I will finally be able to write and watch a different ending of Avengers Endgame.” “Time for a better rendition of the moon landing,” and “Wait , I am becoming movie producer!!🔥😂” Well it truly looks like fans are loving the new AI platform.
However, not everyone was left impressed. A section of the fans were unimpressed with the quality offered by Sora. “Some stuff looks good, but others, not so great…” And the ones who didn’t mind the quality questioned the idea behind the automation of the movie-making process. Filmmaking is considered an art and has even been used to spread messages and ideas further in society. As a result, many fans believe that the idea of making films through AI seems wrong. They wrote, “If everybody can do everything alone at home on the computer…than where is the magic? where is the craftsmanship? thats not impressive, thats just sad!” “So where is the fun in it?” and “Not everything needs AI.” Well, it seems like there will remain the ethical dilemma whenever we talk about AI. But what do you think? Should AI be used to make movies? Let us know in the comments.
