Following are some of the reactions fans had:

  • This feels like a retirement fight for Stipe … he’s not coming back for a contender fight, or to be cannon fodder… him vs Jones is a dream fight and if Stipe loses, it’s probably over.
  • heavyweights need to start speaking up. If i was blaydes or pavlovich id be pi**ed off tbh.
  • Ppl are saying that it would be disrespectful to not give stipe a title shot. What about the disrespect to blaydes and pavlovich who are actually taking fights to earn the shot?
  • Stipe already got his free title shot when he lost to DC the first time, he got an immediate rematch. Is he supposed to get infinite title shots now? This is bullsh*t.
  • If Jon wins I’m not against him fighting Stipe, but he shouldn’t get to jump over Pavlovich or Blaydes after not fighting for 2 years coming off a loss
  • I love Stipe as much as anyone else, but this is complete bullsh*t. He’s not fought for 2 years, got dominated and KOd in his last fight, but still gets to jump the line over Blaydes vs Pavlovich winner?
  • Alright I like stipe but wtf are the UFC doing? HW is just starting to get good and they’re just gonna hold up the whole division to give title shots to guys that haven’t won in the division in years or ever? Is this a f***ing sport or a show?

Miocic last entered the cage against Francis Ngannou at UFC 260 in March 2021. He lost the fight via a devastating knockout and has been out of action ever since.
