Redemptions are gratifying, and it was Jessica Andrade who wanted to redeem herself after dropping her previous two fights. Thus, she took up the opportunity when a slot opened up at UFC Nashville. But taking a short-notice fight against the undefeated Tatiana Suarez was an uphill task even for the former UFC champion. Besides the title implications, Andrade’s career was on stakes as she and the American fighter squared off on August 5 at Bridgestone Arena in Nashville, Tennessee. But it appears the fight has left her in a worse position than ever.
While the fight provided the Brazilian fighter a chance to return to the winner’s column, Suarez had the perfect fight to insert herself in the title conversation. Hence, the high-voltage fight had everything to offer to the fans. The fireworks, a path to glory, and a clash worth remembering for ages. But it was Suarez who come up on the top and climbed the ladder, on the cusp of a title fight next.

Notably, the American fighter won the fight via a guillotine choke in round two.
What happened in the fight at UFC Nashville?
Suarez opened up the proceedings as she launched some high kicks. Andrade then countered those with kicks of her own. Further, she remained patient and more composed, as opposed to her recent fights. However, that didn’t hinder Suarez from taking the fight to the ground, her dominating zone.
The grappling contest lasted long enough to chip away Andrade’s energy. The former champion came to life in the dying seconds as she landed some clean shots to salvage some points for herself in a losing round.
In the second round, Suarez gunned for a takedown. After gaining a dominant position, she worked out a guillotine choke and made Andrade tap out.
In the post-fight interview with Michael Bisping, Suarez said, “I felt amazing back there”. She then touched upon Daniel Cormier‘s comments when ‘DC’ asked how she’ll fare against a powerhouse such as Andrade. She then expressed, “We found out tonight. I outstruck her.”
Lastly, Suarez declared, “Thank you Nashville. This sh*t is awesome.”
Has the magic of Jessica Andrade faded away already?
While some fans celebrated Suarez’s victory, others blasted the UFC veteran for putting on another weak performance.
