The MMA community was struck with grief when they learned about the untimely demise of Canadian MMA fighter, Ashley Nichols. At just 37 years old, this talented strawweight fighter’s passing has left fans and fellow fighters heartbroken. They extended their condolences and shared their memories of Nichols on social media.

Ashley Nichols, also known by her nickname ‘AK47’ was a rising prospect in MMA with a 7-4 record under her belt. She fought in promotions like Invicta Fighting Championships and Legacy Fighting Alliance. Further, she was supposed to fight for the Pallas Athena Women’s Fighting Championship on March 9.

Like many aspiring MMA athletes, Nichols also had her dreams and objectives in the sport. She once mentioned her dream to fight for the UFC one day. During an interview with CBC back in 2017, Ashley Nichols mentioned that she had been training as an MMA fighter for 11 years at the time. She trained at the Niagra Top Team, alongside UFC stars Jasmine Jasudavicius and Mike Malott. The former shared an Instagram post commemorating her late teammate on her IG story.

The 30-year-old also revealed that, like any other MMA fighter, she too, wanted to fight in the world’s biggest MMA organization, the UFC. “I hope to put it all together, and keep the momentum going, and be good enough to face the best in the UFC,” added the Canadian strawweight during the interview. Unfortunately, that dream was not meant to be.

The fans on Reddit expressed their sadness over the sad demise of Ashley Nichols. They mentioned that besides being an MMA fighter, she also had expertise in kickboxing, claiming that she was a real warrior.

“Rest in peace. She was a kickboxer too, I remember her fighting Anissa Meksen.”

Some fans also mentioned witnessing Ashley Nichols’ fights in Invicta and LFA. Meanwhile, one fan was surprised to learn the news of her passing away as they saw her training a few days ago.

“Damn. I remember her from her few fights in Invicta, and she just fought in the LFA a few months back. RIP to her and condolences to her loved ones.”

“I’m gonna guess it was something sudden like a car accident, she was training just the other day.”

One fan mentioned CBC’s documentary on ‘AK47’, and they seemed to love getting an insight into her life as a fighter. Furthermore, there was another user on Reddit who recalled the time he trained with Ashley Nichols, calling her a commendable training partner.

There is no doubt that Nichols has left such an impression among the people who knew her that she will be deeply missed by the members of the MMA community.
