After the UFC 300 masterclass, Max Holloway called out Ilia Topuria for a showdown. The featherweight champion initially refused to clash against ‘Blessed’, however, the ‘BMF’ title changed everything for him. ‘El Matador’ agreed to take on Holloway as soon as possible. The MMA community took the events seriously and asked the UFC Supremo, Dana White to make this fight happen. But wait a minute, their clash would be a bit confusing. Why, you ask? Well, it is because of the fact that both of them are champions.
Further diving into the leak, the clash is scheduled to take place at the UFC Sphere, however, nothing has been made official by the UFC administration. UFC insider and former fighter, Chael Sonnen has come forward to express his opinion on the events. ‘The American Gangster’ emphasized that Dana White might want that clash to happen at the Noche UFC, “Wouldn’t it be great to have the BMF title fight at the Sphere? If it was something to that effect, what does that mean? I feel like people aren’t picking up on this enough,” said Sonnen.
It all started with a tweet by Dana white tweet that hinted at a significant event at the UFC Sphere, however, the UFC Supremo never revealed the fight. Well, Sonnen further explained, “Now, I feel that a very obvious guess would be that Ilia Topuria is going to get his way, and they’re going to put up Max’s BMF title simultaneously with the featherweight title. That could be, but you’re dealing with a blackjack player who’s not going to split Aces. I do not believe that you’d send out a tweet and build or put any attention or effort into a fight for a title that is already a fight for a title. I just don’t believe that. So what could it mean?”
‘The American Gangster’ highlighted that Dana White is going to make the UFC Spehere just like UFC 300. Sonnen explained that the UFC Supremo’s tweet indicated that there is going to be a clash between Holloway and Topuria, however, there’s a black cloud over this fight as well. Why, you ask? Well, a prominent voice from the sport has raised his doubts over the happening of this clash.
