Is Joe Rogan's podcast style a breath of fresh air or just plain overbearing?

The Joe Rogan Experience is truly one of America’s favorite podcasts that provides fans with stories and theories from different aspects of life. So when Paul Rosolie, an American conservationist and author, appeared on the show as a guest for the last time in episode #2013, it was an instant hit among fans.

Rosolie truly lives an exciting life. In his book Mother of God, he revealed how he was always attracted by nature and the woods. As a result, he decided to move to the Amazon rainforest to help preserve the jungle and its land. With a guest that was so amazing and insightful, fans wanted to listen to him talk. However, it seems like they did not get their wish, as Joe Rogan soon found out after facing the wrath for hijacking the show during the latest appearance by Rosolie on the JRE episode #2209.

During the podcast, Rogan continued his bad habit that often draws the ire of his fans. What’s the habit? Well, the UFC commentator seemingly has the tendency to talk over his guests and basically make it an interview about himself. Something that happened again, according to the fans, in this latest edition of the Joe Rogan Experience. While fans wanted to listen to Rosolie reveal more incidents that took place at the Amazon, Rogan made the conversation about politics again by the end of it.

The last time the conservationist visited the show, he revealed stories such as encountering a giant anaconda while working with the Discovery Channel and encountering several other dangerous animals in the wild, such as piranhas, crocodiles, and electric eels. These stories made fans get hooked on the guest and wish they could get another episode with him. But now that they have it, they barely get to listen to his Amazon stories.

Have an interesting take?

As soon as the post made it to the JoeRogan subreddit, fans took to the comments to share their disappointment at the podcast host. A majority of them blamed Rogan for not letting the conversation flow naturally and giving it a major turn toward current events and politics instead. Something that he has done with his previous guests rather than talking about their areas of expertise. Something that the fans were truly interested in listening to.

Several fans wrote, “Was enjoying the episode until Joe took over repeating the same sh*t as usual. Idk why he even brings guests on any  more,” “30 minutes in of actually interviewing a super fascinating guest before transitioning into The Joe Rogan current events and politics monologue hour,” and “No longer an interview or conversation, but Joe lecturing guests and just trying to show off his ‘knowledge'”

According to some fans, Rogan rarely lets his guests speak. Instead, it was more like a podcast where Rogan was interviewing himself since he took the majority of the talking time. Why did the fans feel this way? Well, at multiple points during the discussion, Rogan turned the direction of the conversation toward topics like elk hunting, chimpanzees, and even Elon Musk! The same complaints were heard when Shawn Ryan was a guest on the JRE episode #2207, with the fans dubbing it as, “…just Joe Rogan interviewing himself.

This was again pointed out by some fans as they wrote, “He brings guests on to interview him,” and “Let the guests talk Joe.” However, not all were disappointed by the podcast episode.

A fan appreciated Rogan’s interest in Rosolie’s stories: “JR listens with such feels, like he is actually in the jungle.” While others were truly impressed by the guest and glad he was brought back. “This guy is a good guest” and “Let’s gooooooo! Finally a good guest.” Well, it surely looks like Rogan needs to let his guest speak more since fans are surely turning their backs on him. But what did you think of the episode?
