Jon Jones and Alex Pereira had no place in Conor McGregor’s MMA Mount Rushmore. The Irishman did compliment both on their fighting prowess, but refrained from giving them a place on his list. Instead, he had other top names and told the same to The Schmo during his interview inside a luxurious private suite in Las Vegas.
Previously this question was posed to Paddy Pimblett and Dana White as well and now McGregor was asked the same. He listed the names and said, “Many are there on Mount Rushmore, Royce Gracie, Chuck Liddel, myself, and Ronda Rousey.” The Irishman’s decision to have Ronda Rousey and himself was surprisingly the same as what Dana White said about his own MMA Mount Rushmore.
The UFC head honcho, who till now, was gushing about Jon Jones and named him the best P4P, had kept McGregor and Rousey up on the mountain along with ‘Bones’ of course. The head honcho gave credit where it was needed for the former women’s two-weight champion of the UFC. He talked about his top list at the UFC 306 post-fight presser, “You’ve got to go with Jon Jones. You have to go with Ronda Rousey – women would not be fighting if it wasn’t for her.” White added while speaking to ESPN’s “First Take”, “You would have to put GSP (Georges St-Pierre) in there and absolutely, positively Conor McGregor. He elevated and changed the game globally.”

Conor McGregor spills the beans on Alex Pereira’s prowess while warning Jones
While having a conversation with ‘The Schmo’, ‘Mystic Mac’ was asked about his thoughts on Alex Pereira and the former dual-weight champion showed his genuine appreciation for the Brazilian. He stated, “2024 has been Alex Pereira’s year, and no one can deny that. If we go by competition alone—forget belts—he’s had four fights this year and four knockouts. His most impressive one was the most recent. I’d put Alex as number one.”
It is true that ‘Poatan’ defeated three top opponents in the last seven months and he is also aiming and become the first 3 division champion at UFC. The light heavyweight champions’ main aim is to face ‘Bones’ and McGregor vouched for Pereira when it came to choosing the best fighter between the duo.

Have an interesting take?
Conor McGregor said that Jones might have big trouble on his hands if Pereira decided to fight him. However, he also gave credit where it was due and complimented Jones for his win against Ciryl Gane. ‘Mystic Mac’ explained, “That’s a dangerous style for Jon, but it’s a decent matchup because Alex isn’t so big. Jon is new to the heavyweight division. He had a nice win against Ciryl Gane, but he’s still untested at heavyweight. I’m sure, in the back of his mind, Jon knows some of these guys are big. Alex is a solid matchup, but still a dangerous one. At its core, it’s probably even more dangerous. I’d be very excited to see that bout take place, for sure.”
However, he still did not include Jones or Pereira in his Mount Rushmore. Who would be on your top list in the Mount Rushmore of MMA? Tell us in the comments below.
