MMA journalist Dave Schmulenson, known as ‘The Schmo’, has recently taken the MMA community by storm with a significant announcement. ‘The Schmo’ stepped into the spotlight of his own narrative and revealed that his fellow MMA journalist, Helen Yee, has wholeheartedly embraced his proposal.

Schmulenson shared this news via Instagram, accompanied by a photograph featuring himself and Yee. Known for his humorous and creative interviews, ‘The Schmo’ has maintained a friendship with Yee spanning several years. The two also co-host a podcast titled ‘The Schmozone Podcast.’ And with this announcement, they both have solidified their bond in the most profound way possible.

The Schmo is now a pro

As soon as they announced the news, people from the MMA community started to congratulate the two. The Schmo on his IG handle wrote: “8.14.23 @helenyeesports said YES… I’m over the (moon). Blessed and grateful to do life with my best friend. I love you sooo much!! Forever”.

The proposal has been met with wild reactions from fans and MMA professionals alike. MMA writer and analyst Brian Campbell congratulated The Schmo and commented, “Well done, Schmo. You are now a pro. Congrats!,” reflecting a sentiment of accomplishment and celebration for the momentous occasion.

Veteran referee Herb Dean shared his joy, expressing genuine happiness and excitement for the couple’s milestone. He commented, “Hooray!! I am so happy for you two! Congratulations!”

The fans have also taken to social media to congratulate the couple. One fan suggested that Schmo should invite UFC fighter Sean Strickland, an outspoken and controversial personality, to the wedding.

In a recent appearance on the ‘Real Eyes Recognize Podcast,’ ‘The Schmo,’ provided a candid and thought-provoking narrative about his intricate relationship with fellow sports reporter Ariel Helwani.

On the podcast, Schmulenson shared glimpses of what he deems “Agenda Journalism.” During the discussion, he shared his perspective on Helwani’s reporting style, suggesting that there often seems to be an underlying agenda driving his content. Schmulenson remarked, “What I feel like with his style, there’s an agenda. Like there’s obviously something he wants to get out of it. He needs to make himself look good, and sometimes that falls at the expense of the athletes.”

He also addressed a recent incident involving UFC Champ ‘Sweet Dreams’ Jamahal Hill to support his remarks about Helwani.’ Further, ‘The Schmo’ spoke about Helwani’s alleged attempts to incite tension between Hill and Dana White, UFC’s president.
