The world has been buzzing with anticipation for a clash between Tom Aspinall and Jon Jones ever since the British star claimed the interim heavyweight title. Dana White himself has acknowledged the magnitude of this fight, calling it “a massive event in the history of the company.” It’s rare for Dana to make bold declarations, but he’s fully backing this title unification bout as one of the biggest moments in UFC history.
However, till the fight is announced, both Aspinall and the fans will have to be patient. The interim champion is so focused on the fight that he is ready to reject even $20 million to fight Jake Paul, whose journey from internet fame to becoming a recognized figure in boxing has been nothing short of extraordinary. Paul’s rise in the sport has been fueled by his unrelenting work ethic and a knack for drawing attention. While many doubted his commitment, Jake trained with respected coaches and sparred with seasoned fighters, silencing skeptics with each fight.
Then, the 27-year-old faced a lot of criticism for accepting a fight with 58-year-old Mike Tyson. The much-anticipated clash on November 15 at AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas, turned out to be a letdown. Tyson struggled to meet the high expectations surrounding the bout, appearing more like an observer than an active participant. As the fight progressed beyond the first two rounds, Tyson’s age became increasingly evident. His movements were sluggish, and his bulky physique seemed to weigh him down, leaving fans disappointed as the energy of the contest dwindled.

This was the topic of discussion when Aspinall sat down to chat with Pierce Morgan. However, Morgan was quick to ask the interim champion whether he would ever get in the ring with Paul. Much to the surprise of many, ‘Honey Badger’ said, “Everybody wants to fight Jake Paul because they’re are trying to get the money aren’t they? Well, 20 million is a while lot of money. Well for me honestly now and I’m not trying to be like a UFC bootlicker. I want to unify the belts more than anything else.”

Tom Aspinall has time and again said that the only fight he wants at the moment is with Jon Jones. ‘Honey Badger’ wants to prove to the world that he is the best heavyweight in the world at the moment. He is even sure that only if the fight happens will there be a massive difference in the payout between the pair. However, he is not bothered about it at all and is focused on just one goal.
Tom Aspinall has nothing but eyes on the heavyweight title next in his career
Jon Jones’s demand for what he called “f**k you” money has made waves, gaining so much attention that even British media personality Piers Morgan mentioned it during a recent interview with the interim heavyweight champion. Before exchanging pleasantries and competing on a punching machine, the interim champ admitted he wasn’t sure how much Dana White would agree to pay Jones or if he’d meet his hefty demand.

However, he was confident that his own payday wouldn’t come close to matching the undisputed heavyweight champion’s earnings. Tom Aspinall said, “No [I won’t make nearly as much as Jones].” However, this is not the motivation behind the interim champion to get the fight. For him, it’s all about the belt and proving that he is better than the champion. He further added, “Jon often likes to talk about legacy, his history, and all this stuff. It’s not about Jon. It’s about the belt and I wanna be the unified champion.”
Well, currently, the 31-year-old is waiting for his opportunity to get into a fight with ‘Bones’. He has time and again made it clear that he will and can beat the greatest MMA fighter of all time. If and ever they fight each other, who do you think will win between the two? Let us know in the comments below.
