The sport of MMA has given us certain letdowns and countless legends, and there’s always everybody’s pick about who their greatest of all time is. However, Dana White believes in and has always maintained his stance on the claim that if there’s the title of the greatest MMA fighter, it rightfully belongs to Jon Jones. Now, even Joe Rogan seems to have sided with the UFC CEO, picking ‘Bones’ as his absolute G.O.A.T.
Joe Rogan recently mentioned how Jon Jones possesses the “perfect fighter’s frame” in MMA, and how it allows him to do what he does best – getting the better of his opponents. While he does have a few names that he believes could put up a fight to bag that ‘G.O.A.T.’ status, he doesn’t think there’s someone quite like Jon Jones, who’s defeated the cream of the crop when it comes to the light heavyweight division.
“It’s tough to argue he’s not the greatest of all time. I say, if you had to only pick one, I’d pick Jon,” Joe Rogan told guest Theo Von on a recent JRE episode. However, he always wanted fans to take into account the level of competition that each fighter who’s in the greatest-of-all-time conversation faced during their prime.

“I don’t like only picking one because there’s a bunch of reasons why other guys are in this elite class of being considered as possibly the greatest of all time,” the 57-year-old added.
However, for the past couple of decades, Joe Rogan has been able to sit right at the edge of the cage, and one would assume that such privileged access to witnessing fighters and their methods of doing business inside the octagon has taught him a thing or two about them, and it is here that he argues for the inclusion of another former UFC champion in the GOAT debate, Demetrious Johnson.

Besides Jon Jones, Joe Rogan also believes Demetrious Johnson was one of one of the G.O.A.T
Demetrious Johnson recently bid farewell to mixed martial arts after a historic 18-year career in the sport that most fighters can’t even fathom, and it was, of course, an emotional one, to say the least. He had been one of the most eye-catching fighters since the last decade, who dominated the flyweight division for many years and became the most successful 125’er in UFC and MMA history. Joe Rogan stressed the eye-catching part and how ‘DJ’ would pull off seemingly comic book and movie-like moves over his opponent, and if you’ve guessed it already, yes, the JRE host did talk about Johnson’s flying armbar submission on Ray Borg.

“I always say Mighty Mouse [as the greatest] because Mighty Mouse would do things where you’re like, ‘What the f— did he just do?’ When he fought Ray Borg, he tossed him in the air and caught him in a f—ing armbar on the way down… It’s one of the craziest things I’ve ever seen a guy do inside the cage,” Joe Rogan further stated.
Despite Joe Rogan making the case for Demetrious Johnson, when it comes to doing numbers, Jon Jones is way ahead with his drawing power. As such, he’s drawing attention for his Madison Square Garden clash against Stipe Miocic, too. This could be his big chance to punch a ticket to becoming the literal greatest of all time if he can get the better of the former 2-time heavyweight champion.
