The light heavyweight division is abuzz with excitement with so many high-level prospects in the top 10, and January is going to give us a fight featuring two former champions that will be nothing short of fireworks. With Jiri Prochazka and Jamahal Hill set to rumble at UFC 311, fans are in for an incredible clash of two very dangerous men. What’s more? The two have already been selling the fight, taking jibe after jibe at each other. However, ‘Sweet Dreams’ is not just focused on ‘BJP’, he’s also beefing with the divisional champion Alex Pereira, not missing an opportunity to go after the Brazilian at every turn. It looks like Hill is engaged in a two-front war on X (formerly Twitter).
In a response to one of Prochazka’s diss, Hill reminded ‘Denisa’ of his fight against Pereira. He claimed, “We had the same opponent last fight. In your last performance, you got dominated. Dominated and knocked out. Completely shut down, completely exposed and then got done bad, bro. You got did bad. I got caught, you got dominated, there’s a huge difference, you feel what I’m saying? My man’s (Pereira) literally had your ponytail leaning to the left. I hope you wear that same ponytail in LA so I can lean that motherf—er to the left, right back for you… This is insane.”
As soon as the light heavyweight champion ‘Poatan’ stumbled upon Hill’s comments, he sent forth a subtle jibe, asking the American fighter to calm down. Taking to X, the man with the hands of stone wrote, “Calm down, my son. Pass this test and Dad will give you a second chance.” But Hill had had enough. He traveled back in time and dug up the controversial KO at UFC 300 in his response, comparing his loss with the kind of performance Pereira showed against Khalil Rountree Jr., Hill tweeted, “Beat it funny how you rushed lil a– Rountree and dumba– Jiri, like you were the man but waited until the refs got in the way to swing at me!!! You will see me again at 100% soon and we both know the fear that is in your heart!!”

This wasn’t the first time Jamahal Hill criticized Herb Dean for his decision at UFC 300. Just before the KO, ‘Sweet Dreams’ happened to throw a kick that apparently caught Alex Pereira in the groin. Hill put his guard down, believing that his opponent needed some time to recover. But instead of stopping the fight, ‘Poatan’ signaled to Herb Dean that he was okay and continued the fight. As soon as the referee asked them to continue the bout, Pereira sent a short left hook that slept Hill. As per the 33-year-old, Pereira closed the distance between them while he had his guard down.
While things kept heating up between Pereira and Hill, Magomed Ankalaev decided to jump in with a response for the ‘Poatan’. Addressing the LHW champ’s reply to Jamahal Hill, the Russian wrote, “See you soon son.” No wonder, he’s looking forward to his fight for the title. But do you know what ‘Sweet Dreams’ had to say about the matchup between Pereira and Ankalaev?

Jamahal Hill explains how Magomed Ankalaev can defeat Alex Pereira
Talking to Inside Fighting, Hill weighed in on the potential fight between the Dagestani and the champ. He pointed out that Ankalaev has a tendency to counter his opponent’s strikes. But on the other hand, ‘Poatan’ likes to push forward and put pressure on his opponents. But according to Hill, it’s Ankalaev who will win if they face off. He said, “I give Ankalaev a big chance at winning it [against Pereira], just because of the way he fights, the style in which he fights.”
‘Sweet Dreams’ feels that Ankalaev had an advantage over the Brazilian, who has certain holes in his game despite being a dangerously technical fighter. Hill continued, “He wants to sit heavy and hard in the shots, and he kind of leaves himself exposed to be countered. And Ankalaev counters the combination, you know. So there will be openings for him there to land. Plus Ankalaev is a southpaw, so that’s another factor of a puzzle that he’s gonna have to figure out. And then the wrestling from Ankalaev, so yeah I give him a chance.”

Furthermore, the Russian also seems to carry a winning mindset. Expected to go down at UFC 315, Ankalaev has claimed that he will be the one to defeat Pereira. After all, he has superior grappling skills, and it would be nothing short of a classic striker vs. grappler matchup. But the outcome of the fight is something that remains to be seen.
