UFC commentator Joe Rogan is in trouble again after his take on a fight on the main card at UFC 280. The bout between Petr Yan and Sean O’Malley ended in a split-decision win for the ‘Suga Show’. Subsequently, it had fight experts split. The two-decade veteran commentator went with Yan but made an error while expressing himself.

The highly debated contest saw many UFC fighters immediately chime in and criticize the judges for their call. And like most fans, while Rogan thought Yan won, his reasoning for it was extremely questionable.
Joe Rogan faces backlash for his lack of knowledge of scoring criteria
The 55-year-old has given almost his entire life to combat sports, chiefly MMA. After getting tackled in a boys’ bathroom 41-years-ago, Rogan has been a constant learner, practitioner, and observer of different martial arts.
And since his UFC gig is over 20 years now and he can be easily labeled as an expert. But if fans are to be believed, the new rules of MMA and judging criteria are not something the Spotify podcast host has mastered.
Joe Rogan has been asking this question for years.
He can simply read the rules for 2 minutes and he'll know. https://t.co/JinDio9wBX

After Rogan’s comment, ‘How much is the takedown worth?’, a fan/expert (Weasel), who is well-known in MMA World for his content, questioned the world’s biggest podcast host’s knowledge and wrote, “Joe Rogan has been asking this question for years. He can simply read the rules for 2 minutes and he’ll know.”
The tweet went viral as many other MMA fans rolled their Twitter fingers and fired shots at the face of the UFC PPV commentary booth.

You’re asking Joe Rogan to read?
— Seventh Synner (@seventhsynner) October 27, 2022
Joe just deliberately pretends to misunderstand stuff so he can take the most popular line. He's a terrible analyst
— ShadowsThatMove (@BecomeSane) October 27, 2022
You expect him to read? Your expectations are lofty

Read rules? He is too joe rogan to do that

Apart from these, some fans sided with Rogan and slammed the judges for being inconsistent.
MMA fans put the direct blame on the judges
While most fans and former UFC fighters believed Petr Yan won, two of the three judges were not in the favor of the Russian mixed martial artist. And since Rogan shared similar sentiments with the fans, they supported Rogan’s opinion and gave the judges a hard time.

But the judges are not always consistent with the rules of scoring you know this !
— anthony J medina (@AntRiveraMedina) October 26, 2022
I’m pretty sure his argument was takedowns without damage compared to striking with damage , how should we judge those ?
— Alex harboni (@AHarboni) October 26, 2022
Tell that to the judges
— SpecsTar (@TarSpecs) October 26, 2022
I bet he has read the rules, the question he should be asking is why don’t judges care about takedowns and control time?
— Charlie (@Charlie51904476) October 26, 2022
Except no one actually follows the scoring guidelines. Every judge is different

Anyhow, considering Rogan’s love-hate relationship with MMA fans, none of these reactions would matter to the $120 million worth Spotify podcast host.
Apart from the Yan vs. O’Malley fight, Rogan gave his opinions about other fights on the historic UFC 280 card as well. The renowned podcast host shared these thoughts on the JRE podcast episode #1887.
