Sean O’Malley is one of the most popular fighters in the UFC and has an incredible MMA record. The fighter has been performing admirably since he joined the UFC and has a record of (5-1) since joining the company. However, ‘Sugar’ is still unranked, and he is quite okay with it, as according to him, rankings mean nothing.
Recently, O’Malley appeared on The MMA Hour with Ariel Helwani and talked about various things, including UFC rankings. ‘Sugar’ said, “It’s crazy to think that rankings just don’t really mean sh*t. I’ve never thought they really meant anything. Like if you’re ranked No.15 or 14 and you’re pumped about that, it’s just weird to me.”
“It’s like you’re not the fu*king champ, you’re not anything so. Yeah, it doesn’t really matter.” O’Malley clearly believes that whether a fighter is unranked, is ranked 15, or is ranked in the top 3, it does not matter unless you are the champion.
