Everyone wanted the Californian to go up against the undefeated Russian, who were clearing the lightweight division one by one.

The UFC matchmakers scheduled the match 5 times in five years, however, they couldn’t realize the setting because of distinct reasons. Meanwhile, the duo has reignited their thrilling rivalry via social media.

Recently, ‘El Cucuy’ took a jibe at ‘The Eagle’ to create a new division at his promotion ‘Eagle FC’. However, the ‘Eagle’ swiftly responded with “June 8, 2019”, reminding the Mexican-American the last time he won a fight in the octagon.

Ferguson emphasized the fact that Nurmagomedov could not fight him when their bout was scheduled at UFC 209, due to weight cut complications. Subsequently, in their last match-up at UFC 249, ‘The Eagle’ could not come to the United States because of COVID protocols.

Currently, ‘El Cucuy’ is coming off a loss against Beneil Dariush and is currently walking with a 3-fight losing skid as Justin Gaethje snapped his 12-fight winning streak. Contrastingly, Khabib Nurmagomedov retired from the UFC undefeated and is now building his own MMA promotion, which goes by the name Eagle Fighting Championship.

Tony Ferguson plans to take on Michael Chandler

Apart from beefing with Khabib Nurmagomedov. ‘El Cucuy’ has also pissed off Michael Chandler. The Mexican-American went after ‘Iron’ as the former Bellator fighter expressed his desire to take on the former UFC dual champ, Conor McGregor.

Tony Ferguson called Chandler his ‘Bi*ch’ and revealed that the UFC has already made plans for them to fight in the late spring of 2022. Though Chandler’s trying to delay their bout with his aspirations.
