The UFC confirmed the news to Marc Raimondi earlier today. Ostovich was one of the most popular fighters in the women’s flyweight division. But her time inside the octagon didn’t go according to her plan. Other than losing 3 of his 4 fights in the UFC, she also failed a drug test and was subsequently banned for a year by USADA. Dana White recently announced that the organization will be cutting many notable names in the near future. Ostovich is the latest one to face the axe.

Dana White recently said there will be more cuts coming before the end of the year. This weekend, top middleweight contender Yoel Romero was cut surprisingly by the promotion. “The Soldier of God” is one of the most popular fighters among fans and had an eventful 7 years’ run with the UFC.
The UFC president made it clear that there will as much as at least 60 cuts coming before the end of the year. This is just the start of the process. He also mentioned that the UFC roster is very inflated right now, with almost 500 fighters under contract with the company. So, understandably, the promotion is looking to get rid of some fighters, including some big names.
There have been speculations among who could get cut next, with some veterans and former champions under the risk of facing the omission.

As for Ostovich, she was a fan favorite, no doubt. But she failed to make her mark in the competition aspect. She lost her last bout recently against Gina Mazany at UFC on ESPN 18. Where does Ostovich go next remains to be seen. Maybe she could join her former opponent, Paige VanZant, in BKFC. There is will no shortage of takers for her, that’s sure.
