Conor McGregor is all set to compete at the biggest MMA event of the year. ‘Notorious’ will be facing Dustin Poirier at the UFC 264 main event on July 10, 2021. Recently there was speculation that Rafael dos Anjos was being touted as the backup for that fight.
MMA Fighting’s Damon Martin was the first to report about this. He wrote, “Rafael dos Anjos is in Las Vegas this week and he was seen at the fighter hotel cutting weight with his trainers. UFC never made any official announcement about a backup for McGregor vs. Poirier 3 but take that for what you will.”

McGregor’s tweet makes it quite clear that he is not worried about who the backup fighter is. Instead, he is so confident that he is willing to take on Rafael dos Anjos and Dustin Poirier at the same time.
The History between Conor McGregor and Rafael dos Anjos
Rafael dos Anjos and Conor McGregor were set to compete for the UFC lightweight title at UFC 196. However, that fight did not happen as dos Anjos had to withdraw from the fight after breaking his foot. Since then fans have been eagerly waiting for an opportunity to watch the two fighters compete.
Recently dos Anjos had even taken to Twitter to offer to fight McGregor at UFC 264. The fighter wrote, “Not a better time than now! Everyone else is booked, let’s go! July 10th.”
