Pride FC was one of the biggest MMA promotions back in the day. Because of putting on amazing shows and tournaments, the promotion had garnered a lot of interest in Japan and even around the globe. Known for its soccer kicks, Pride FC also made some fights that were dubbed crazy by the fans. Recently UFC color commentator Joe Rogan shared his thoughts on the same.

On an episode of his podcast, Rogan said, “Pride did some wild s*hit man. They had freaks fights, like freak fights where they had Noguierra who was the Pride Heavyweight champion who was an immensely talented Jiu-Jitsu black belt.”

He fought this guy Bob Sapp, who is 375 pounds with abs. I am not kidding. Like if you have never seen Bob Sapp fight before, when you see him fight, you don’t believe it’s a real person. You think it’s a video game character or this is CGI. I am not kidding.”

While Pride FC was quite the promotion back in the day, the UFC eventually purchased the promotion. Joe Rogan narrated a story about the same.

Pride FC, which originated in Japan, was quite the show back in the day. MMA fans around the globe loved the fights and the atmosphere of the promotion. However, Pride FC ended up being purchased by the UFC.

On his podcast, Rogan said that the UFC bought Pride FC. He said that the Japanese have a masterful way of doing business. Fans around the world know that the UFC and Pride FC were trading fighters back in the day, which elevated the brand of Pride FC.

Even though such negotiations had been going on for a while, the UFC eventually purchased Pride FC. However, they later realized that they just purchased their library since most contracts the fighters had been illegal.

The UFC went there and got the library, and even when they had these UFC employees, they started a new promotion by the name of Dream FC. To sum it up, the UFC purchased nothing but air.

While the UFC did not get what they expected, since then, the UFC has dominated the MMA world by putting up blockbuster events. The work by the UFC has arguably made them synonymous with the sport of MMA.
