Joe Rogan on why he went sober
While talking to Rutten, Joe Rogan asked how long he had been sober for. The Dutch MMA icon said, “I do drink here and there like a glass of wine or something, but maybe not for a while, for the last five years.”
Rogan responded saying he had been controlling alcohol as well. Rogan said, “Yeah, I’ve been taking it down to that myself. I enjoy the mariju*na and I enjoy some other stuff that’s safe and effective, but I am pretty much done with heavy drinking.”
The Spotify podcaster also told Rutten the reason behind his decision to control alcohol. Recounting a personal story, Rogan said, “I got a friend recently that got off the rails drunk. And it was so sad to watch. He was so debilitated that I was like, ‘I think I might be done.’ Tt was awful. When you’re just sober and you see someone just sh*tfaced obliterated, can’t form sentences. Terrible for you.”
