There is a video from Nurmagomedov’s childhood where he is seen wrestling a bear. In the video, Nurmagomedov can be seen doing his best to land takedowns on the bear.

In a conversation with Megan Olivi, Nurmagomedov described his father putting him into wrestling a bear. ‘The Eagle’ said that when he told his father the bear was biting him, his father replied saying, “Bite him back! No problem. You have to wrestle. You have to keep going.”

Throughout his career, Nurmagomedov has listened to the advice of his father. At UFC 254, after successfully defending his title against Justin Gaethje, Nurmagomedov retired from the sport of Mixed Martial Arts with an undefeated record of 29-0.
