Dana White is no stranger to controversy. From fighters’ pay to the Reebok deal, there is always something that keeps the UFC boss on the receiving end of criticism. The latest of these controversies is his venture: Power Slap, reportedly worth hundreds of millions of dollars, per White. For those unaware, ‘Power Slap’ is considered one of the premier organizations for slap fighting—a sport in which athletes take turns slapping each other with the intention to knock their opponents out.
Not surprisingly, the promotion has been a subject of controversy since its inception, with critics questioning the long-term health effects on athletes. Regardless, Dana White seems unfazed by any criticism. In fact, he has been vouching for the popularity of his new venture. But do the fans agree?
Dana White gets trolled for his bold claim on India
Recently, a video clip featuring Dana White has gone viral on the Internet. The clip seems to be taken from his Instagram Live session, and White can be seen responding to comments. The video starts as a normal celebrity Q&A session, but a few minutes into the video, White makes a claim that sparks its virality. According to him, his promotion Power Slap is ‘blowing up’ in India with over three hundred million views. He further adds that he plans to organize a power slap event in India before a UFC event.
Dana White says he just got back from gambling.
Thanks Venum and Crypto dot com for letting the fighters wear the UFC Hawaii shirts.

In Dana White’s own words: “Get UFC to India. I am my man. We’re working on India. You know what’s blowing up in India? It’s Power Slap. We’re doing like fu***ng 300 million views on Power Slap in India. But yeah, we want to do a UFC in India too, brother. We might get a fuing power slap event there before UFC. You guys keep eating that sh*t up like candy.” Recently crowned as the most populated country in the world with over 1.4 billion people, India is a vast and rather untapped market for White’s promotions. And without a doubt, MMA is one of the fastest-growing sports in the country.
A fact accelerated by the rise of athletes like UFC’s Anshul Jubli and ONE Championship’s Ritu Phogat. In contrast, Power Slap remains a largely unknown sport in the country. However, with such a large population, it’s entirely possible that a Power Slap might be attracting some Indian views. Nevertheless, White’s claim comes off as dubious, as the sport is far from mainstream in the subcontinent. And it looks like these words aren’t going too well with the fans.
Fans react to Dana White’s claim
This is not the first time Dana White has been vouching for his new promotion, but this time, his words took the internet by storm. Fans across the spectrum marched to troll White., including the ones from the Indian subcontinent. Here are some of the selected comments from X:
Has slap fighting surpassed cricket in terms of popularity in India? It doesn’t look like that, at least for now.
Power slap the new cricket then?

Is Dana White’s claim true? These users don’t think so.
His imagination

Literally, no one in India talks about power slaps on twitter. Not a single soul.

Some past claims that remain unfulfilled.
Dana White said season two would be in Abu Dhabi and they would bring the best slappers from around the world. Neither happened. No PPV either.

UFC Hawaii is a criminally overlooked card. People act like it never happened

Evidently, White is going headstrong with his Power Slap promotion. If we are to believe his words, India will get a Power Slap event before a UFC event. Do you believe White’s claims? What are your thoughts on the situation? Let us know in the comments.
