Sometimes, quick losses in MMA fights can have a negative psychological impact on a fighter. When Jon Jones defeated Ciryl Gane pretty quickly in the first round, the Frenchman showcased an underwhelming performance, but he recently claimed that the loss had a rather positive impact on him. Apparently, it was a big learning curve for ‘Bon Gamin’.
“It was not easy… After the fight with Jon Jones, people turned really crazy…This helped me to grow up a little bit more at first because in my sport, to lose like that, this is too much pain,” Ciryl Gane stated during a recent interview with the UFC. He further added that despite what people and the media had to say about him, he chose to remain “strong.”
Ciryl Gane claimed that he wanted to prove people wrong because he considered the defeat against ‘Bones’ as the biggest setback in his MMA career, but he was still a happy man outside of the Octagon. “Unfortunately, I had a big loss against Jon Jones, but I’m okay with this. I am not happy about that [fight] but I am happy like a human, like a man, the life; I am happy about this experience,” Gane added.

Ciryl Gane claims he responded well after his loss to Jon Jones
‘Bon Gamin’ had a lot of weight to get off his shoulders when he returned to action against Serghei Spivac at UFC Fight Night 226 last year following his loss to Jon Jones. The latter had been on a roll before the fight against Ciryl Gane; he came into that bout with a 3-fight winning streak and people imagined him making quick work of the Frenchman with his wrestling like Jon Jones did. However, Gane showed why he’s a top contender in the heavyweight division by knocking Spivac out in the second round. That win, for the former title challenger, was the best “answer” he could have given to his critics.
