Dominik Mysterio‘s transformation from a forgotten legacy act to one of WWE’s most booed villains has been one of the sport’s oddest success stories, and it has piqued the interest of people well outside the ring. After clashing with his father, Rey Mysterio, at WrestleMania 39, ‘Dirty Dom’ joined Judgment Day and expanded his heel persona by insulting his father, criticizing the crowd, and proudly calling himself “ex-con Dom” after a kayfabe imprisonment in late 2022. That momentum hasn’t stopped, and MMA legends like Daniel Cormier and Chael Sonnen are taking notice—and weighing in hard.

On a recent episode of Good Guy/Bad Guy with Chael Sonnen and WWE’s Liv Morgan, Daniel Cormier broke it down in his usual straight-shooting style: “Dominik on our show has become this character that we at times feel bad for. This poor kid… terrible father,” he joked, referring to Mysterio’s ridiculous but consistent split from his family. “Went to jail, grew up in a horrible, broken home.” While the jail time was part of a WWE sketch, the Judgment Day member’s heel turn has elevated the hatred to a new level.

Chael Sonnen responded with his own brand of sarcasm. “Is that a shoot? Is that a gimmick? Would you wait for him if he got picked up again and had to do hard time?” he asked Liv Morgan, who responded without hesitation. “Oh, I’m waiting. He’s getting money on his commissary. I’ll wait until the end of time for him,” she replied. Obviously, the kayfabe seriousness of the answer impressed DC, who replied with, “Oh man, what a beautiful love story.” Sonnen, too, stunned by her commitment, just nodded. “That is beautiful.”

It is worth noting that Daniel Cormier has previously acknowledged Dominik Mysterio’s rise in the WWE. Following WrestleMania 39, ‘DC’ responded to a tweet by the WWE asking if the Judgment Day member was the most disliked man in WWE. To which, Cormier posted, “Easily the most hated, and it’s perfect!”

With WrestleMania 41 coming, he is no longer simply Rey Mysterio’s son or a gimmick. He’s become his own storm, and even MMA fighters are taking notice. It is worth noting that while Mysterio is earning his ranks in the WWE, another superstar from the sports entertainment promotion wants the UFC to help him settle his feud.

WWE star wants Dana White to lift a strict UFC rule

While Dominik Mysterio is forging his own path in WWE by leaning into boos and chaos, Seth Rollins is looking for a totally different kind of resolution—one that does not result in a pinfall but rather a tap-out. Rollins’ hatred for CM Punk has gone far beyond scripted heat. And, with WrestleMania 41 scheduled to feature a triple-threat match with Roman Reigns, Rollins appears to be more obsessed with settling things where Dana White calls the shots.

What’s your perspective on:

Seth Rollins vs. CM Punk in the Octagon—fantasy or a fight worth making happen?

Have an interesting take?

‘The Visionary’ did not mince words when he spoke on Robert Griffin III’s podcast. He proposed entering the Octagon with Punk, even if it meant learning MMA from scratch. This isn’t performative trash talk; it is personal. Rollins wants to fight, not wrestle, not a promo battle—fight. He even pitched it directly: the first non-UFC fighter bout under the TKO merger. “Give me a training camp,” he demanded, fully aware he has zero cage experience. But for Punk, he’s willing to learn how to swing fists instead of chairs.

The irony, of course, is that Punk’s own UFC detour failed so badly that Dana White avoids WWE crossovers altogether. His appearances were terrible to watch—submitted by Mickey Gall and dragged to a messy decision against Mike Jackson that was later overturned. Logan Paul, who briefly considered joining the UFC, blames CM Punk for closing that door for everyone. So, while Seth Rollins may be furious, the fight he seeks may be permanently locked behind a door Punk has already slammed shut. What do you think? Will Dana White accept his request? Let us know in the comments.
