The American political scene has been witnessing the rapid uprise of Donald Trump. The 45th US president’s recent narrow escape from an assassination attempt has earned him even more followers. That’s mostly been on social media. But what is the reason behind his popularity? Well, longtime UFC commentator Joe Rogan seems to have an idea behind Trump’s rise in fame among the US citizens.
Yes, it’s true that Donald Trump’s social media has gained a lot of momentum after what happened in Butler, Pennsylvania. However, his popularity, for Joe Rogan, stems from his experience spending time as an entertainer. Let’s see what the 56-year-old had to say.
“Politics is basically show business and he [Trump] was a professional showbiz guy. So he was way better in showbusiness because politics is basically a popularity contest,” Joe Rogan told guest Sam Morril on the JRE podcast. The podcaster went as far as to claim that there has never been anyone more popular than Donald Trump even when the country saw Ronald Reagan, who was popular as an actor, become the US President. This is especially due to the 78-year-old’s ability to handle the media.

Additionally, the longtime UFC commentator also laid bare his thoughts on the ways how Donald Trump catches the media’s attention.

“By saying ridiculous [things] all the time, whether it was on purpose or not, that’s what got all these news organizations to start following him and that just made him more popular,” Joe Rogan added. “They were exposing him. ‘Look what he said about the Mexicans’, but nobody cared. ‘This guy’s wild. This is so much better than what we’re used to.'”
In the past, Donald Trump has admitted to wanting to have a candid chat with Joe Rogan, who doesn’t think it’s a good idea. However, the 56-year-old has talked about the former president every now and then and his show. As such, what do you think about what Rogan had to say about Trump’s popularity?
