Jon Jones last fought at UFC 247 in 2020, where he successfully defended his light heavyweight title. However, everything went haywire for the ‘Bones’ as he vacated his title in August of that year. Since then, the Albuquerque resident has been on a two-year layoff. If the latest murmurs are to be believed, Jon ‘Bones’ Jones is ready to end his Octagon exile. In episode 430 of the popular podcast- Believe You Me, Michael Bisping sat with the new signee Bo Nickal. Interestingly, the duo discussed the wrestling invasion that will reshape the UFC, how Bo Nickal’s UFC career will be different, and Anderson Silva’s training knockouts. Also, the former middleweight champion discussed Jon Jones as the American fighter prepared for his rumored return at UFC 282.
Michael Bisping praised Jon Jones
While Bisping discussed the different issues and developments, the Brit disclosed that Jon Jones made winning titles look easy. Also, Bisping compared Jon Jones’ career trajectory and appreciated how Jones evolved his combat skills.
On being pointed out by another guest of the possibility of Jones going full heal, ‘The Count’ asked, “You mean like, go full-on Mike Tyson?” While mentioning that Bisping was a Jones fan, he also declared that Jones was always polite. Therefore, the Brit never had a bad interaction with ‘Bones’. “I mean honestly, he’s always been so friendly and polite and courteous and gracious with his time,” Bisping added further.
Following this, Bisping admitted that, contrary to his nature, Jones did ‘things that are that aren’t good enough’. While Jones has only 1 loss throughout his career, his outside-the-Octagon actions always overshadowed his inside-the-Octagon victories.
Michael Bisping’s advice to Jones
However, the UFC Hall of Famer declared, “The point I was making is that, is that, the problem is that then he balances that out with all the religious talk. And, and you know the, the do-goody, the goody two shoes image. The two don’t go.”
Instead, the 43-year-old fighter advised, “So if you just went full Mike Tyson, I was like ‘f**k you all. This is me. Kiss my a**. This is what I’m doing. I’m the baddest motherf***er on the planet, alright. Deal with it’.”
