UFC 285 not only entertained the mixed martial arts fans with the main event, but also with the early prelims. Although the world was waiting for Jon Jones to fight against Ciryl Gane, the early prelims worked wonders and kept the world entertained. Ian Garry defeated Kenan Song with a TKO in the early prelims. Unfortunately, the Irishman dropped his fanbase after taking inspiration from Conor McGregor and disrespecting Song

However, after claiming victory, the young Irish fighter took to social media and shared a picture of Song’s face. The image was one where his opponent looked brutally beaten. Unquestionably, the fighter received severe backlash from the UFC fans due to the disrespect he did to his opponent. The post was reviewed in an episode of ‘The MMA Hour’, where Garry tried to justify his actions. The incident found its way to Reddit, and the fans took over the comments section to write what they felt.

McGregor is undoubtedly one of the greatest trash-talkers in the world. The Irishman has always found himself getting judged by the public eye. ‘The Future’ took ‘The Notorious’ as his inspiration and tried to trash talk like him. Unfortunately, the MMA world did not well receive it.

Garry took to Instagram and wrote,When you sign a contract against me, I take it personally. My mission is to let you know you made a bad decision.”

Moreover, in the recent episode of The MMA Hour with Ariel Helwani, Garry tried to justify his actions. He said, “Kenan Song was my canvas, and that was the world of art that I had done, was the damage on his face.”

The world erupted as the post was made public. While many of the fans were in support of Garry, some others argued that he did wrong. Nevertheless, many fans agree that he was behaving like the ‘Mystic Mac’.

Here is what the fans had to say:

  • Fighters do this sort of stuff all the time, Jorge Mazvidal has tattoo of the flying knee he landed on Askren, Poirier has a chain of McGregor’s broken leg, Holloway was taunting Kattar while beating his face to a pulp.
  • Ian “the cringe” Garry
  • Damn so that’s two legends of the game that Garry is straight up copying now, and you wonder why we don’t like him.
  • Buddy got FOLDED by Song at one point. I like watching Gary fight but grow up kid.
  • In my opinion, the most disrespectful part about this is for him to post this after how friendly and polite Song was to Ian’s child in the lead up to the fight.
  • I’m actually ok with this type of trash talk. Keep personal life out of it. Rest, within reason, is fair game IMO.
  • I mean, he’s already trying to copy Conor at every turn
  • He is trying SOO hard to be Conor, but my god is he cringe
  • Kid wants to be the next McGregor but he’s insufferable on the mic…stick to the prelims
  • Except this is the type of thing mcgregor would do, and now you are talking about him. Guy wants to be the bad guy.

Nevertheless, trash talks are pretty common in sports. However, the way one talks determines how well the fighters will fare in the fandom.
