Surging UFC strawweight Polyana Viana is a huge anime fan. One of the things that she enjoys the most is cosplaying different anime characters. The Brazilian fighter wished for a chance to cosplay her favorite anime character at her walkout in the UFC on ESPN 51. Within a few hours, the UFC heartthrob will lock horns against Iasmin Lucindo at UFC Apex in Las Vegas, Nevada. Prior to her fight, she went public with how  Dana White and the UFC were not allowing her to dress up like her favorite anime character. Her social media posts are enough to prove that she is a huge anime fan who loves to dress up like one of the characters.

The 13-5 record holder has posted numerous photos on Instagram where she has presented herself in the outfits of anime characters. Unfortunately, the UFC boss won’t let her walk in such an outfit before her fight. When the fight fans came across the disappointment faced by ‘Dama de Ferro’, they were quick to react. Some felt that she had the right to dress up the way she liked for her walkout, while others felt that White was right.

Polyana Viana was talking to reporters on Thursday’s media day. During the press conference, she detailed how UFC asked her not to go for a cosplay. She said, “I’ve tried so many times, and I’ve actually asked to come in with a bandana. They’ve never allowed it. I wanted a cape. I’ve tried with like a blank bandana – I can’t.

The 31-year-old further mentioned that she has asked for UFC’s permission numerous times. However, they were not ready to budge an inch. She added, “I’ve asked. They never let me do it, but if I could, I definitely would.” The restrictions that Dana White and the promotion have put forward for her clearly disheartened Viana. When the fans came across the matter, they were quick to react. Some took her side, while others didn’t.

Fans react as Polyana Viana is not allowed to cosplay at her walkout

One of the Instagram users guessed that the UFC didn’t allow her to cosplay because they didn’t want the attention of the fans to shift from the fights to her.

  • “They don’t want her baiting they fans”

Another fan wrote,

  • “Please tell me there is an OF”

The UFC president is notorious among combat sports for being biased toward some fighters. The Irish superstar, Conor McGregor, tops the list, as many believe that White works in favor of McGregor. One fan commented in light of that.

  • “Dana White is gay. If Conor wanted to dress up as sailor moon Dana would dress up as venus”

UFC middleweight champion Israel Adesanya is a huge anime fan, similar to Viana. Hence, some of the fans compared her situation with that of ‘Stylebender.’

  • “Cringe like adesanya doing some hentai a*s dance routine with his boyfriends”
  •  “Why can Izzy do it but she can’t?”

There were some fans who took the side of White. A fan went on to say that nobody wanted to see her cosplay at a fight night. While another fan reminded her that it’s not a “clownshow.”
