For MMA fans who have started watching the sport in recent years, Tony Ferguson is just an average Joe MMA fighter with eight consecutive losses ever since Justin Gaethje snatched the interim UFC lightweight belt from him in 2020. However, up until that point, ‘El Cucuy’ had one of the longest winning streaks in the company’s history—12 consecutive wins with nine finishes. This was in addition to seeing his arm raised in 15 of his first 16 fights in the promotion.
Such was the impact of the legendary ‘El Cucuy.’ But seeing such a downfall is not easy for fans of The Boogeyman. So much so that they have started begging him to retire. In a recent Instagram post, he had some major announcements to make; however, all fans had to share was the request for him to hang up his gloves.
‘El Cucuy’ teases a major change coming up in the near future in an Instagram video. Something so big that he had to share it with the fans. As he said, “Hey, check this out crew. This is Tony ‘El Cucuy’ Ferguson here. I’m over in Beverly Hills in the Penthouse Suite. I have some very exciting news for you coming at you. So I can’t really say too much right now. However, what the major announcement is has yet to be known. But what fans are aware of is the ultimate downfall in Ferguson’s performance. Ferguson went from having the longest win streak in the division at one time to having the longest losing streak in the promotion now. His current version is far from the Tony that fans grew to love and support, which could be seen once again at UFC Abu Dhabi against Michael Chiesa, who submitted him in the first round.
