Former UFC welterweight, ‘Platinum’ Mike Perry has found major success in Bare Knuckle fighting, holding an undefeated record of 4-0. His last outing was a brutal back-and-forth against former lightweight champion, Eddie Alvarez at BKFC 56. Now the welterweight has his eyes set on another UFC champion.
If there’s one person who can compete with Perry’s brash nature, it’s none other than UFC middleweight champion, Sean Strickland. Strickland is set to take on Dricus Du Plessis at UFC 297 on 20th January 2024. However, the middleweight champion has had an unexpected callout after his scuffle against Dricus Du Plessis at UFC 296.

‘The King of Violence’, is no stranger to putting on spectacular violence for the fight fans. So Strickland’s scuffle with Du Plessis certainly got the attention of the BKFC superstar. In an interview with ‘The Schmo’, Perry stated, “I hope he comes at me like he did at Dricus Du Plessis. I hope we just get right to it and we just fight. He said he wouldn’t do it bare-knuckle, but he looks like he’s thinking about it now. So maybe we’ll just fight.”
However, Mike Perry claimed to like Strickland. As he told Schmo, “I like Sean. I think he likes me, but that’s what we do. We love to fight and that’s what fighting is about.” Platinum also stated his disappointment with the main event of 296, saying, “And that’s what being a fighter is about and we didn’t see any of that in the cage, in the octagon last night as far as I’m concerned.”
“The only thing that happened was Sean Strickland trying to fight Du Plessis and they jumped right in that and stopped the show, you know. So you know,” said Mike Perry, putting forth the idea that the scuffle was the most interesting event of the night.
Calling out someone to fight is certainly a weird way to show someone that you like them. But, in Mike Perry’s case, it could be the greatest form of respect coming from ‘The King of Violence’. And talking about respect, Perry certainly seemed to earn his from former opponent Eddie Alvarez.

‘The Underground King’ opened up about his fight against ‘The King of Violence’ to The MMA Hour. Alvarez commended Perry’s sheer durability and ability to take hits, comparing Perry to a “Battle Axe” and a “F***ing Zombie.” Alvarez, like most people who are following Perry’s career in Bare Knuckle Boxing, claims to agree that Perry was made for the sport.
Eddie Alvarez explained to Helwani that fighters need to have a different mindset to be successful at BKFC. Mike Perry certainly has that mentality. The former UFC champion unfortunately had to find that out the hard way. The undefeated BKFC fighter seems to have more in store for the fight fans, as he seems to be gaining more momentum as he wins fights.
