Conor McGregor will make his Hollywood debut in the upcoming remake of the 1989 action classic, ‘Road House.’ He will star as the antagonist named ‘Knox’ to ‘Dalton’, an ex-UFC fighter turned-bouncer played by Oscar-nominated actor Jake Gyllenhaal. Now, the Irishman has shared an exciting poster for his character in the film.

The trailer for the movie prominently featured ‘The Notorious’, who seemed to revel in playing the loud, brash, and violent bad guy on the silver screen, just as he does so well in real life. The former two-division UFC and Cage Warriors champion has been promoting the film every chance he gets as it nears its release date.

The Irishman tweeted a cinematic poster of the film which featured him shirtless, with a full beard looking menacingly over sunglasses he has shifted down towards his nose. “Knox thrives in chaos,” he wrote. The movie will be released on March 21 on Amazon Prime, no doubt to the disappointment of McGregor, who would have been hoping for his debut to be on the silver screen. This move has really ticked off the director, who has decided to take a drastic measure to let his disapproval of the move known.

Director Doug Liman has announced that he will not attend the premiere of his film at the SXSW Film Festival as a protest against the film not getting a theatrical release. Having directed smash hits such as Mr. and Mrs. Smith and The Bourne Identity, the 58-year-old felt that ‘Road House’ was the best film he had directed so far.

In a guest article on deadline.com, Liman opened up about the reasons behind his opposition to the film being released on Amazon Prime. He claimed the film was met with rave reviews in test screenings and was panned well by the few journalists who had seen it so far. The director also argued that the film featured the UFC prominently, and would have found its loyal and worldwide fan-following a primed potential audience who would have been excited to see its biggest star on the big screen.

Fans will remember Jake Gyllenhaal appearing in character at the UFC 285 press conference last year and even shooting a fight scene in the Octagon later at the event. Gyllenhaal plays the role of a washed-up UFC fighter, who finds employment as a bouncer at a Florida Keys club. However, soon after taking the job, he realizes all is not as it seems. While the film may not be releasing in cinemas, UFC fans are certainly excited to see ‘Mac’s first Hollywood project. Do you think ‘Road House’ should be released in theaters?
