One might think that supporting a personality like Covington will help Trump in his Presidential run. However, with what has happened over the last few days, this perception is rapidly taking a 180 degree turn.
Colby Covington’s distasteful remarks on Leon Edwards
Very few MMA fighters know how to promote a fight as well as Colby Covington. However, it seems like ‘Chaos’ crossed the line this time. During the UFC 296 press conference, the fighter made some provoking remarks about Leon Edwards’ father, who passed away long ago.
‘Rocky’ could not hold his emotions back, and threw a bottle at his UFC 296 opponent. Soon, a brawl broke out and security had to intervene. Instantly, MMA fans all over the world started criticizing the American MMA fighter because of his words.
Undoubtedly, Donald Trump had no direct relation with this controversy. However, it wasn’t the most flattering situation for him, to be the most influential personality in Covington’s corner, at a time where the entire world is raising fingers at ‘Chaos’.
Did Donald Trump walk out on Colby Covington?
Surprisingly, Covington had claimed that the former US President would wrap the title around his waist, in case he won the UFC 296 main event. However, this dream could not turn into reality. Edwards dominated the title challenger, and won the fight via unanimous decision.
