The American combat athlete has been completely inactive since 2019. However, it doesn’t take away from the fact that he has impressive Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu skills. According to BJJ Heroes, Danis is a black belt in BJJ and has trained under veteran Marcelo Garcia. Moreover, his training lineage goes all the way back to the legendary Carlos Gracie.

Talking about the recently turned boxer’s BJJ record, he has 18 wins and 16 losses to his name. Further, Danis has shared the mat with some of BJJ’s biggest names, like Gordon Ryan and Jake Shields. He lost both bouts, but going toe-to-toe with these legends is an accomplishment in its own right.

Further, it is worth noting that Danis’ exceptional BJJ skills were the reason Conor McGregor hired him for the Irishman’s fight against Nate Diaz at UFC 205. Some of the New Jersey-born’s achievements include 1st place in the IBJJF Pan Championship No-Gi (2016), the IBJJF New York Spring Open (2016), and the IBJJF Boca Raton Open (2015). Moreover, ‘El Jefe’ started training full-time at Marcelo Garcia’s academy at the age of 19. With so many years of BJJ experience, Danis can use his grappling skills to do well in the UFC.

Dillon Danis’ MMA record

Moving out of the world of grappling, Danis has also tried his hand at MMA. After 2017, Conor McGregor’s friend decided to take up MMA and in the Bellator twice. In his first fight, Danis faced Kyle Walker at Bellator 198. ‘El Jefe’ finished the fight in the first round via submission.

Dillon Danis doing well in boxing, claims Conor McGregor!

A combination of solid BJJ and boxing skills is the perfect recipe for success in any MMA promotion. While there is no doubting Danis’ grappling skills, it seems like the former Bellator fighter is also improving in his striking game. Recently, Conor McGregor exchanged some words with All Out Fighting and talked about Danis’ preparation for his boxing debut.

The UFC’s first double champ did not hesitate to praise his friend’s progress. Moreover, the Irishman also claimed that ‘El Jefe’ would win his boxing fight. “Dillon is gonna win, Dillon will win,” he said.

Further, ‘The Notorious’ also talked about how he was going to train with Danis, but the plan fell out. “He had the baby, we didn’t get to train together. I know he is doing well,” the Irishman said. With such positive words from McGregor, it seems like Dillon Danis might be doing a good job of adding boxing to his arsenal.
