People were tired of all the hate speech on Twitter, and now with X, they said, “You know what? We’re gonna go over to Threads.”

Berenson emphasized that, although Threads was introduced, it did not function as expected because people desired a more open platform. He added, “But it didn’t work. People seem to want a more open platform. They want Twitter. They don’t want threads “

The launch of Threads which is fairly similar to X started a feud among the tech billionaires Mark Zuckerberg and Elon Musk. Threads gathered a massive 100 million users within a matter of a week surpassing all the expectations. The massive user base may have been seen as a victory over Elon Musk and X. However, the success and media hubbub was short-lived. Musk in his pursuit accused the tech giant of Intellectual Property theft. He went further to allege that Meta had hired former X employees who had access to confidential data such as source codes. He went on to criticize Threads as “just Instagram minus pics“. Despite its initial surge in popularity, Threads was unable to sustain its user base and ultimately lost to Twitter in the social media arena.
