UFC welterweight champion Kamaru Usman is looking for a fight again. The number one pound-for-pound UFC fighter has made it clear frequently that he wants to fight the pound-for-pound number one boxer. Even before his fight against Colby Covington at UFC 268, he called out Alvarez.
In a recent interview, ‘The Nigerian Nightmare’ talked about fighting Canelo and if he could beat him. He said, “Why wouldn’t I? Why wouldn’t I think I can? If I don’t believe in myself, then why would I do it? Of course, I believe in myself… He’s amazing. I’m not taking nothing away from him. But how often does someone get the chance to test themselves against ‘The Best.'”

In a message to Canelo, he said, “Payday. Payday for both.”
Kamaru Usman is definitely the best welterweight in the world right now. He has defended his UFC welterweight title five times now, most recently, against his long-time rival Colby Covington.
‘The Nigerian Nightmare’ has looked better in each fight. Being a wrestler, his striking has improved so much that he’s one of the best at it as well. A fight with Canelo will be huge and is definitely going to be a huge payday for both.
Canelo Alvarez not interested in fighting Kamaru Usman
Despite the number of call-outs and namedropping from Usman, Alvarez is not interested in fighting the UFC welterweight champion. In an interview, he said, “It’s not make sense for me because I just want to be good in, I want to make history in boxing. I don’t see anything right there, so we’ll see.”
It’s not just Canelo who isn’t interested in this fight. UFC President Dana White also asked everyone to stop with this. At the UFC 268 post-fight presser, he addressed Usman’s call-out of Alvarez.
“I watched the Canelo fight tonight. He don’t want to fight Canelo. Come on, come on man, let’s stop this s**t. If Canelo wants to come over here, let’s do it. He don’t want to box Canelo.”
