Dana White has a special place of disgrace for Bob Arum. And it showed during a press conference back in June 2023. It was back when Arum’s comments regarding Terence Crawford showed that perhaps the New Yorker wasn’t very keen on paying his fighters what they were owed.

It was around the same time that Arum was being criticized by many for the same. So what was it that set Dana White off while he answered a somewhat unrelated question? White was speaking about the length of rounds in boxing and in the UFC when he couldn’t help but thrash Arum. Here’s how it went.

Dana White was speaking to the press regarding his contender series when the whole thing came up. A reporter would soon ask White about Arum’s alleged comments on being worried about buying a house in Beverly Hills if he paid Terence Crawford what he was owed.

At this moment, White just couldn’t hold it in. He began by reminding Arum that it was his full job to promote a fight and a fighter to the point where money was made. Crawford was signed under a contract where he was supposed to be paid, and that’s how it should be.

“Imagine if I said that. Are you f*cking kidding me?” said White. “That’s not his (Crawford’s) f*cking problem that’s your problem his problem isn’t to figure out how you make money you f*cking signed a deal with this kid your job is to promote him.

White continued by bringing up Conor McGregor, one of the UFC’s highest-paid fighters of all time. “Imagine me going, ‘Oh, I’ve got to pay McGregor this much money. I could have built a house in Beverly Hills.’ Shut the f**k up, you f***ing sc*mbag. Pay your f***ing fighter what you owe him, that’s your job!” Clearly, Dana White had it out against Arum. So what was Arum really accused of?

Terence Crawford’s lawsuit

Crawford accused Arum of treating fighters of color differently. Moreover, he accused him of not delivering him the fights he was promised and, in that process, losing him much money. The 2022 lawsuit claimed that Top Rank was meant to pay Crawford a sum of $900,000 if Crawford wasn’t offered a fight with Errol Spence Jr. by the end of 2020.

That did not come through. And Crawford would go on to demand over $5.4 million in damages. Moreover, he also accused Arum of making bigoted comments and remarks against fighters of color like himself. Clearly, White putting the promoter on blast came from a highly controversial case and situation. Do you believe Dana White was right in his rant about Arum?
