UFC welterweight Jorge Masvidal took to social media and sent out a clear message to Kamaru Usman ahead of their fight. ‘Gamebred’ returns to action at UFC 261 for an immediate title rematch against Usman in Florida. The bout marks his comeback after first falling to Usman back at UFC 251 in July at Yas Fight Island.
Jorge Masvidal let fans know that he’s coming to take over in a massive way and he’s got the welterweight belt in his scope. Masvidal’s star power has been the driving force behind the sell-out at the VyStar Veterans Arena, where the UFC will welcome back 15,000 fans in the company’s first full capacity event since the pandemic.

UFC 261: Kamaru Usman vs Jorge Masvidal 2
The aforementioned welterweight title fight was a late addition to the card that now makes for three exciting title fights. Chiefly, the original bookings only had Zhang Weili and Valentina Shevchenko defending their respective titles on the card. However, the late inclusion of Usman vs Masvidal will surely bolster the PPV.
What’s more, both men are rooted in Florida, thus making it a lock for fans to turn out in huge numbers. The first fight at UFC 251 did exceedingly well at the box office and surpassed expectations with the draw. With Masvidal now coming in with a full camp, there’s likely to be more anticipation built up for the card.
The fight itself is expected to play out much like the first contest from back in July. Kamaru Usman’s domination on the ground has been a regular feature in all his bouts. Despite Masvidal’s craftiness, fans remain skeptical about his ability to usurp ‘The Nigerian Nightmare’.

However, there’s something to be said about Jorge Masvidal’s underrated takedown defense and ground offense. He’s a busy worker off his back, and it’s no easy feat to keep him down. It all comes down to whether ‘Gamebred’ can keep the fight standing in the initial round. If he does, his striking prowess and explosiveness could be enough to seal a first UFC championship.
