The card for January’s UFC event has been announced, and it appears that Dana White has heeded the voices of the combat community. Thus seemingly, Khamzat Chimaev will have to wait for his turn at a title shot, as Dricus Du Plessis has been chosen to face Sean Strickland for the title fight.
Dana White promised that the winner of Chimaev vs. Kamaru Usman would get the next title shot but now the UFC has other plans. So does that mean Chimaev will be out of action now? As of now, it seems like he will have to wait for his turn to get his hands on the title. However, there’s another prospect who wants to take on ‘Borz’.

The middleweight division is presently going through a complicated period. It has only one championship belt, yet numerous formidable contenders. The situation appears stabilizing with Israel Adesanya‘s announced hiatus and Alex Pereira’s move up to the light heavyweight division.
However, with the inclusion of Khamzat Chimaev and Kamaru Usman in the division, the middleweight division is again going in shambles. Still, Sean Strickland and Dricus Du Plessis have been chosen to headline the January Toronto event snubbing Chimaev.
In the middle of all this Paulo Costa has called out Dana White to give him a match against Chimaev. ‘Borrachinha’ took to X(Formerly Twitter) to demand the match. Costa said “Give me chenchen for dinner in JANUARY with some SecretJuice. There’s no reason to protect him from me, or force him to sign it again, otherwise, he’s gonna be still ducking. Let’s go mtfk!”

Paulo Costa was originally supposed to headline Chimaev on the UFC 294 event but he had to pull out due to a shoulder injury that mutated into a staph infection that required urgent surgery. As of now, their matchup seems a far-fetched idea. However, the coming year card is packed with exciting fights.
