This year’s season of The Ultimate Fighter has been very entertaining. Conor McGregor and Michael Chandler went head-to-head as head coaches on the 31st season of the series. Team McGregor was only able to win one fight out of eight in the group stages, which forced the producers to shift some fighters from Team Chandler to Team McGregor.

The finale of the series took place at UFC 292 last week. Brad Katona beat Cody Gibson in the bantamweight bracket, while Kurt Holobaugh secured a come-from-behind victory in the final seconds of his lightweight bout against Lee Hammond. Gibson though has been offered a contract by the UFC, despite his loss. And in a recent interview, Gibson was asked his pick for the slated Chandler vs. McGregor fight.

The 35-year-old was asked who he thinks would win in Chandler vs. McGregor in an interview with ‘InsideFighting’ on YouTube. Gibson, who was on Team Chandler, spoke about being close to him and thought he would win the fight on the back of his hard work, which Gibson identified with.

“I mean, of course, I’m going to be a little biased [towards Chandler], you know. Yeah, I built a pretty good relationship with Chandler. I tend to root for the guy who puts his head down and goes to work, you know? So that’s what Michael Chandler is about [and] that’s what I’m about. I feel like more options than not, that strategy works pretty well in this game,” the bantamweight said.

The timeline for McGregor’s comeback is still unclear

Conor McGregor has been out of the Octagon for two years after breaking his leg in his bout with Dustin Poirier at UFC 264. He was originally supposed to fight Chandler in December. However, ‘Notorious’ has been sending contradictory messages to fans on the exact dates.

On Sunday, Conor McGregor released a series of distressed voice notes and told fans he would not be returning in December as “they” wouldn’t let him fight. It is unclear who exactly “they” were, but many speculated it was USADA as McGregor has not entered their testing pool yet. A day later, however, the Dubliner took a U-turn and tweeted that “December is back on the table”, which suggests that McGregor might fight in December after all. However, without an official announcement from the UFC, nothing could be said for certain.
