Joe Rogan recently took up the ever-controversial Andrew Tate for discussion on The Joe Rogan Experience podcast. The UFC commentator had previously discussed Tate on multiple occasions during the latter’s rise to fame and commented on the social and cultural impact of Tate’s preachings. This time, the former Fear Factor host attempted to unveil the reasons behind Tate continuing his charade despite the grave consequences they brought forth.

A few months ago, Tate and his brother, Tristan Tate, were involved in a court case for human trafficking among other serious offenses. The pair spent almost three months in a Romanian jail and were then under house arrest for seven more months. Regardless, the Tate brothers continue to have a large following and Andrew Tate continues to be his former self. Rogan discussed the reason for this with YouTuber Derek on the latest episode of JRE.

Talking to Derek about Tate, Rogan said that the Brit was willing to let go of his sanity for his character. “You’ve got to think of what a person like that is trying to do when they’re first getting attention. You’re trying to be as outrageous as possible to get as many people to think about what you’re saying, talk about what you’re saying, and engage with it,” said Rogan.

The 56-year-old further explained that Tate just acts arrogant. Rogan added, “Yeah, and the best way to do that is to be like a character – an over-the-top, completely arrogant guy who’s shirtless, with sunglasses on, smoking a cigar, talking about h*es.”

Rogan emphasized that Tate has to keep this alpha male persona to stay relevant in the media. Down in the conversation he also followed up on why Andrew Tate is so famous in pop culture.

Joe Rogan explains why Tate remains relevant

Andrew Tate first rose to fame with his self-proclaimed ‘misogynist’ remarks after his removal from the British reality show in 2016. His controversial public remarks about women and his past of making profits from his ‘webcam business’ added to his notoriety. But Tate’s social media following came from him being heralded as a messiah for the men, asking them to embrace their masculinity.

Joe Rogan discussed why young men are attracted to Andrew Tate’s larger-than-life personality. Tate’s ability to openly discuss certain topics is what Rogan attributed this popularity to. He said, “Boy did they tap into this thing that’s going on where men do not feel like there’s anyone that represents men in popular culture,” said Rogan.

Moreover, there was a time when even Tate wanted to be a guest on the JRE podcast. In 2019, Alex Jones was asked to put in a good word to Rogan by his good friend Tate. This was apparently quickly shut down by Rogan, citing, “I’m way over booked right now.”
