UFC 305 witnessed one of the most brutal decisions taken by the MMA promotion when Western Australia’s Combat Sports Commission relieved Howie Booth from his duties. The UFC judge made a terrible mistake of favoring Tai Tuivasa in his fight against Jairzinho Rozenstruik. Needless to say, Tuivasa was one of the fighters that the fight fans loved to see inside the octagon. However, it was Rozenstruik who clearly dominated the bout.
As soon as the scorecards were out in the open, the fighting community began lashing out at the judge for his mistake. But many others urged the UFC CEO, Dana White, to investigate Booth.

The famed MMA journalist, Kevin Iole, took to his YouTube channel and revealed his thoughts about the incident. He didn’t take a step down from commending the Western Australian Combat Sports Commission for removing Booth from the judgment panel for the fight between Kai Kara-France and Steve Erceg. In his stead, Ben Cartlidge was appointed as the third judge beside Charlie Keech and David Lethaby.
Iole, like many others, wanted Booth to be properly investigated. He said, “But I think we have to have as an investigation and in public preferably where the public can see this and can see what is being done. But at the very least where the results are made public, because the integrity of the sport is at issue here.”
Iole went on to bash the judge and wondered the reason why he gave Tuivasa all 10s. He speculated that might have been a genuine mistake, or Booth might have given in to the crowd’s emotions and scored for the hometown hero. But talks about bets weren’t too far away. The journalist demanded, “So I wanna know, what did Booth do? Who does Booth know? Why did he score the fight that way?”
Keech and Lethaby scored the cards 29-28 and 30-27 in Rozenstruik’s favor. Thankfully, it was the Surinamese fighter who got his hands raised without the fans lashing out at the officials for a robbed victory. Iole continued, “But it should have been a 30-27 win on all three cards and it is outrageous to think that these two judges scored the fight the way they did. So, let’s have a very public investigation and let’s release the results of that investigation, so everybody knows all cards are turned over on the table and everybody knows what went on.”

This emotion was shared by many others. Even David Shaw and Michael Bisping stood against the judge. Let’s see what they had to say.
UFC judge gets severe lashings for his scorecard at UFC 305
David Shaw, the UFC executive addressed the talks revolving around Booth at the UFC 305 post-fight press conference. He said, “The performance was probably not worth keeping him involved for the rest of the night. I think everyone needs to be held to a high standard. It doesn’t matter if I don’t do my job or you don’t do your job. It’s good to sit on the bench for a while, reconsider the work, and look to get back on track the next time.”

But Shaw wasn’t alone in that opinion. Bisping also lashed out at the judge for the troublesome scorecard. ‘The Count’ pointed out that something had to be done about the judges who scored the fights pretty badly. The former fighter claimed that the fighters’ careers were on the verge of jeopardy due to such scorecards. He kept on emphasizing the importance of correct scores for the fighters.
