Jon Jones got his moniker ‘Bones’ because of his tall and skinny frame. The undisputed UFC heavyweight champion fought in the 205-pound light heavyweight division for over a decade before his move to heavyweight last year.

This, of course, required him to put on some weight to compete at 265 lbs, which took him the better part of three years. Gone was the skinny, cut Jones, replaced by a more round and bulky version of himself. And fans were delighted to see him resemble one of his former rivals.

Jon Jones, is recovering from two recent surgeries he underwent after tearing his pectoral muscle while training for his UFC 295 fight against Stipe Miocic. Expected to be out until at least mid-2024, the champion is on vacation, having toured Australia recently and is currently in Thailand. He visited the Bangtao Muay Thai and MMA gym in Phuket, where he gave the students a few tips and tricks of the trade.

During the session, ‘Bones’ demonstrated how he was able to use his rival and former champion Daniel Cormier‘s aggression against him, drawing him closer and catching him with knees to his body. Jones even showed the gasps ‘DC’ gave every time he was hit in that way. Notably, Jones seems to have put on a pound or twenty, with a visible paunch, increasingly resembling the heavy-set Daniel Cormier. And fans, of course, had a field day with fat Jon Jones.
