How Did Quinton Jackson End Up Powerbombing His Opponent?

It happened in 2004 during a Pride Fighting Championships bout against Ricardo Arona. After a back-and-forth battle, Jackson found himself in a precarious position on the ground. Jackson was above Arona, but Arona was hitting him with strong heel kicks. “If he would have kicked me one more time, I couldn’t pretend like I wasn’t in pain”, said Jackson.

According to the retired fighter, Arona’s heel kicks also dislocated his jaw. But Jackson refused to give up, and in a stunning display of strength and athleticism, he managed to lift Arona up and power bomb him to the canvas. The impact of the power bomb was devastating, and it knocked Arona unconscious. Jackson won the match via a knockout.

‘Rampage’ Lost His Temper!

“This is the only time in my history of fighting I ever lost my temper in a fight,” Jackson said. The reason behind Jackson’s anger was Arona trying to tell the referee that Jackson was knocked out by his heel kicks. “Those referees over there didn’t like me and they used to always give me yellow cards and stuff like that so I didn’t trust the referees,” said Jackson.

According to ‘Rampage’, there was also a possibility that the referees could have stopped the fight, assuming Jackson to be knocked out. The second reason behind Jackson’s anger was his history with Arona. According to the former UFC champ, he was set to face Arona some years prior to this incident. But at the last moment, Arona missed the fight, and another fighter replaced him. This move did not go well with Jackson, as no one informed him of the change until the last moment.
