“Only Reason He Won Is Because Said Is Russian” – Fans Believe UFC Has Turned On Dagestani’s After Said Nurmagomedov’s Robbery

Dagestan native Said Nurmagomedov suffered his second loss in Dana White‘s promotion at UFC Vegas 71, an event where Merab Dvalishvili dominated former bantamweight champion, Petr Yan. Jonathan Martinez defeated the young Russian fighter via a unanimous decision. However, MMA fans were left in disbelief and claimed that the judges robbed the young Dagestan native of a win.

Said Nurmagomedov was on a 4-fight winning streak before his match last weekend. However, his excellent streak reached a crossroads after his loss to Jonathan Martinez. This was Nurmagomedov’s third loss in his entire MMA career. However, the fight was very close.

The Russian displayed a lot of aggression in the first round of the bout. He showed some excellent striking skills and landed some serious blows to Martinez from a variety of angles. Nurmagomedov’s dynamic striking skills helped him disguise his attempts for a takedown. However, Jonathan Martinez was able to etch out a close victory and won the fight via decision. However, MMA fans claim that Said Nurmagomedov should have won the fight.

MMA fans suggest that the UFC robbed Said Nurmagomedov of a win

There were many fans who reacted to Nurmagomedov’s loss, calling it a “robbery.” Let us take a look at some of those reactions on Instagram.

Many fans believe that Said Nurmagomedov was clearly on the offensive for the majority of the fight. They also mentioned that he had dominant rounds 1 and 3. One fan made a funny comment by asking the UFC to make Hasbulla Magomedov a judge. Another fan made a jarring comment by stating that Said Nurmagomedov lost due to him being a Russian (Dagestani).

The judges’ score at the end of the Nurmagomedov vs Martinez fight stood at 29-28, 29-28, and 29-28, in favor of the ‘Dragon’. Fans believe that Martinez was not able to take advantage of the situations he could have. However, he managed to grab his fifth consecutive UFC win.
