Out of all the knockouts UFC has seen, Jorge Masvidal‘s 5-second knockout of Ben Askren was perhaps the greatest knockout in the history of the promotion. That cemented ‘Gamebred’s status as one of the best strikers in the game. However, Askren is not over with the outcome of that fight and has called for a rematch against Masvidal. Similarly, Conor McGregor‘s sparring partner, Dillon Danis, and the fans are leaning heavily towards the idea of a rematch.

UFC 239 saw the fastest knockout ever with Masvidal’s flying knee hitting the sweet spot after ‘Funky’ tried to go for a takedown. It was one of the biggest moments of the Miami native’s MMA career. Now, Askren wants to run it back and amidst his desire for a rematch, he and Masvidal got into a verbal battle on social media.

During a recent interview with TMZ, Jorge Masvidal spoke about Askren’s desire to fight him in an MMA rematch. However, he recalled how he kneed ‘Funky’ in 2019, and for his safety, considered a boxing match would be the most appropriate option. ‘Gamebred’ said, “I heard Ben Askren said he’d come out of retirement to fight me. He wanted MMA but for his sake, I’d do boxing so I can’t knee him in the face.”

However, Ben Askren didn’t back down. In a recent Twitter post, he insisted on having an MMA fight. He even took a shot at Masvidal, claiming that his BMF status would make much sense if he resorted to a boxing match. Askren said, “No, I am not gonna box Jorge. If Jorge was really a BMF he will accept a rematch in MMA and not be a coward.” It prompted a response from Masvidal, and he said, “This guy still alive?” The fans are apparently up for this rematch, judging their reactions on social media.

Dillon Danis and UFC fans leaning toward Ben Askren win this time

The fans seemed excited about the fight as McGregor’s sparring partner, Dillon Danis, stated that UFC 239 was the only instance where Masvidal had the chance to win. Otherwise, Ben Askren would have dominated him in most fights. Danis commented, “ben beats jorge 99\100 times in mma.”

Most fans also sided with Askren and believed that he would win the fight against Masvidal this time around.

There were some fans who took shots at Jorge Masvidal’s BMF title win. They rendered it as a fake championship. Moreover, the fans stated that defeating Ben Askren was the lone highlight of ‘Gamebred’s career. They also made fun of his wrestling skills, claiming that his offer to box Askren is similar to ‘Funky’ challenging him to engage in a grappling contest.

  • Highlight of Masvidal’s career was winning a fake belt and acting like it’s real
  • Jorge telling Ben to box is like Ben telling Jorge to have a grappling match
  • That’s the only highlight of masivdals career

However, there were a few fans who ridiculed Ben Askren for wanting a rematch against Masvidal. They claimed that the 5-second knockout almost ended his MMA career.

  • Ben a**cream got sent to the shadow realm in under 5 seconds
  • Why lmao? Masvidal ended his ‘career’ literally in 5 seconds

Ben Askren recently shared a picture on Twitter, showing his ripped physique. Besides, he is in much better shape than he was during his boxing match against Jake Paul. He mentioned that he does not want to fight anyone after retirement. However, he will only fight Jorge Masvidal, seemingly, to avenge his loss.
