UFC welterweight Colby Covington made headlines after his shocking appearance at the weigh-ins leading up to UFC 286 as the backup fighter for the main event between Leon Edwards and Kamaru Usman. The former interim champ, as part of the media duties, also interacted with journalists backstage during the event. This gave the 35-year-old an opportunity to talk about the current scenario in the welterweight division; as well as a few other topics that he has been currently embroiled in.
One of the more controversial updates around Covington has been the attack on him that took place last year outside a restaurant in Miami. Addressing the issue, ‘Chaos’ answered a few questions directed at him, remarking that a certain individual had allegedly set him up to get attacked.

Speaking to the media, ‘Chaos’ was enquired about Bob Menery, formerly a member of the ‘Full Send Podcast’, and his alleged involvement in the assault case. Covington, in response, denied having any relationship with the man, even going as far as to claim that he felt Menery set him up prior to the incident.
“Yeah, I don’t have a relationship with Bob Menery. The only reason that I had met him was through the Nelk Boys, through Kyle on those guys,” stated Covington.
Laying down his suspicion on the social media personality; the welterweight said that he would let the scenario play out itself instead of making any allegations.
“I don’t know what to believe with that guy. I think he set me up with what happened. But you know I’ll let that work out the way it does.”
Emphasizing the fact that he had no relationship with Menery, Covington called him out for being “fake.”
“I just think he’s a fake guy, and you know no relationship,” expressed ‘Chaos’.
Bob Menery allegedly leaked Covington’s location as per a member of ‘Nelk Boys’
Interestingly, it was Kyle Forgeard of ‘Nelk Boys’ who initially claimed that Menery was, in fact, the one to disclose Covington‘s location prior to the fighter getting jumped, allegedly by Jorge Masvidal.
“Just a little disclaimer for all the UFC fans…I know you guys saw what happened with the whole restaurant thing with Colby and Masvidal. Bob Menery actually set Colby up. So I did see him texting Masvidal while we were at dinner with Colby. So now that I think about it, something isn’t really adding up. I don’t know. I think Bob set him up,” Forgeard had claimed in a video.
