Alex Pereira uncovers his adventure at Walmart

On the media day of UFC 285, Alex Pereira revealed the truth behind a video clip featuring the Brazilian that went viral last month. In the said video, we can see ‘Poatan’ walking around the Walmart store while a man follows him. In the same video, the former kickboxer refers to the man as a Walmart employee. However, at the press conference, Pereira revealed that the man in question was actually from USADA.

He made this revelation in response to a question that inquired about the story behind the clip. Pereira responded to the question, and the translation of his response is as follows: “Now, to be honest, that video started as a joke. You know, he (Pereira) likes to prank a lot. And that when he was leaving his house on the day to go to Walmart, actually, came to his house. So the guy had to follow him to Walmart.”

This really comes off as a surprise, considering that till now, there were many assumptions regarding the matter. Some were speculating the person in question worked for the paparazzi or was just an Israel Adesanya fan. But now Pereira has cleared the smoke around the matter. Nevertheless, instances like these serve as a reminder that fighters are just normal humans. And like most others, they can have a variety of emotions and moods, regardless of how they appear on camera.

Nevertheless, the Brazilian is set to clash against Jan Blachowicz at UFC 291. The winner could be on the receiving end of a title shot.

In the same interview where Alex Pereira made this revelation, his opponent wasn’t behind in demystifying ‘secrets’. According to Jan Blachowicz, the winner of the upcoming clash between him and Pereira will likely fight for the title next, likely against Jiri Prochazka.
