Middleweight prospect Sharaputdin Magomedov is slowly becoming a favorite among UFC fans, mainly because of his unique style of fighting. Having turned pro in 2017, it took him six years to reach the world’s premier MMA promotion. Moreover, Magomedov is also making good money now, but that wasn’t always the case because the Russian native went through a tough financial situation in the past.

Yes, Dagestani ‘Bullet’ recently opened up about his crippling financial situation a few years ago. After he got married, he even asked his wife, who came from a more financially secure family, to cut down on her coffee and ice cream consumption just so that he could save some money. And guess what? Magomedov’s wife understood their situation at the time and complied with her husband’s request.

“Maybe at the time, it seemed to her that I was just being stingy, but I was giving her the right perspective, explaining that if you keep buying coffee and ice cream, we’ll live for this many days. But if you don’t, we’ll live for more days. And she understood that back then,” Sharaputdin Magomedov told Red Corner MMA.

Now, things are better since ‘Shara’ joined the UFC and there seem to be minimal issues with finance when it comes to him and his family. He reportedly got $80,000 as his base salary for his fight against  Antonio Trócoli, along with a performance bonus for finishing him. He got a $50,000 bonus for his double-spinning back-fist KO of Armen Petrosyan at UFC 308.

It’s safe to assume that he’s sailing smooth financial waters since joining the world’s premier MMA promotion. That was pretty evident recently when ‘Bullet’ presented his coach with a special gift, which blew the latter’s mind away because the present was pretty expensive. Let’s take a look at that front.

Ahead of his fight against Michael ‘Venom’ Page in Saudi Arabia, which will be headlined by former middleweight champion Israel Adesanya, Sharaputdin Magomedov decided to surprise his coach, Gor Azizyan, in a way that was pretty unexpected. The 30-year-old, in a video, had a gold-plated iPhone for his coach, with the ‘UFC’ engraving on it, claiming that Azizyan ‘deserved’ to be gifted a special present.

“I got a gift for Coach Gor. Gor deserves it, and I think he’ll like it. It’s not an ordinary gift,” said Sharaputdin Magomedov. When his coach received the present, he was understandably baffled to see the gold-plated iPhone 16 and to make him feel more special, ‘Bullet’ assured that it was real gold. For context, hold-plated phones can range up to thousands of dollars, and hence, this gesture really earned Magomedov more fans when the video surfaced online.

Now, Shara Magomedov is looking to extend his undefeated run as he takes on the flashy ‘MVP’, who will be heading into Saudi Arabia with a close defeat in his last fight. It will be interesting to see if ‘Bullet’ manages to showcase his unique striking prowess this time out – something like the double spinning back fist – given that Michael Page also has some tricks up his sleeve.
