With his newfound ‘Card Saver’ status, Kamaru Usman has gained new respect in the MMA community. However, according to one of his fellow veterans, this probably isn’t going to end in the favor of the former champion.

After capturing the UFC’s 170 lb gold in 2019, Usman went on a legendary run in the UFC with five title defenses. However, things went south when the Nebraska native found himself on the receiving end of an ill-fated head kick that knocked the fighter out in the final round. Although he again failed to recapture his throne in the rematch, no one can deny the former NCAA credentials inside the ring. So, who is doubting Usman’s ability to triumph in his latest challenge?

Just a week shy of UFC 294, Khamzat Chimaev’s former training partner, Darren Till, might have spilled the beans on the Chechen’s plan for Kamaru Usman. If Till is to be believed, ‘Borz’ is going to “run through” the Nigerian nightmare. However, at the same time, ‘Gorilla’ acknowledges Usman’s alleged GOAT (Greatest of All Time) status. But despite this, the Englishman believes that his friend is going to dominate the former champion.

The statement came during Till’s recent interview with Schmo as a response to the MMA journalist’s question. In Till’s own words: “I said Usman’s got balls, but I just think Khamzat’s going to run over him. I do. I’m as much his friend as I’m his biggest fan. I think he’s going to run over Usman. All respect to him; he’s a GOAT, but yeah, I think Khamzat is going to ragdoll him. I do, sorry to say.”

For those unaware, Chimaev was originally scheduled to face Paulo Costa. But I left his presence in jeopardy after ‘Eraser’ pulled out due to sustaining an elbow injury during a training session. It was at this moment that Usman came to the rescue, essentially saving the card after taking the fight on two weeks’ short notice. The fight will mark the middleweight debut for Usman, moving up from middleweight, a similar move to what Till made before his UFC departure, but maybe not for long.

Months after exiting the promotion, Darren Till teases a UFC return

In the same interview in which Darren Till painted a gloomy picture for Usman at UFC 294, the former title challenger teased a UFC comeback. Talking on the matter, ‘Gorilla’ promised to make his octagon return, despite not having any confirmation. Earlier this year, the fighter bid farewell to the promotion following a three-fight losing streak.

However, before this, the fighter went on an undefeated streak at welterweight, earning a shot at the UFC’s welterweight title. However, the fighter would come up short against then-champion Tyron Woodley, the same person Usman beat to commence his title run. Nonetheless, it would be interesting to see how his prediction stacks up for the UFC 294 clash.
