Ian Garry has faced nothing but disappointment after he campaigned to get a fight against Colby Covington. As the rumors about the two facing each other at the co-main event of UFC 303 flew around like wildfire, ‘Chaos’ decided to clear the air and reject the Irishman’s offer. But now, Garry has come up with yet another name.

The 26-year-old fighter wanted to fight on UFC 303. He had expressed the desire to fight on the same card as that of Conor McGregor versus Michael Chandler. However, ‘Machado’ hasn’t been able to secure a name for the fight. But recently, in an interview, Garry revealed that he said yes to Michael Venom Page. Unfortunately, MVP and his coach were yet to respond.

Ian Garry was recently interviewed by Adam Catterall of talkSPORT MMA. Therein, the interviewer asked the Irish mixed martial artist about his thoughts on Michael Venom Page. Without wasting a single moment, Garry declared that he had said yes- “I’ve said yes! I’ve said yes to that name.”

Furthermore, ‘Machado’ revealed that Page was a tad bit over the weight limit. He said, “Him and his coaches are deciding because he feels a bit heavy. He’s a bit heavy to make, to make weight in seven weeks’ time. But I’ve said yes.” Garry seemed adamant about taking up a fight and sharing the card with his idol. After Covington dismissed the idea of fighting McGregor’s protege, he took up the next best option. However, his demand for a co-main fight at UFC 303 might not be fulfilled, even if he gets a fight.

Continuing the conversation with Catterall, Garry admitted that he wouldn’t get the co-main event if he didn’t fight the former interim welterweight champion. “I don’t believe they’ll give the co-main if it’s not the Colby Covington fight. That was the fight I wanted, the fight that sells and drives that anticipation.” To further add to his disappointment, Garry talked about saying yes to a fight against Joaquin Buckley, Sean Brady, and Nursulton Ruziboev. But none of those match-ups came to fruition. Now, all he needs to do is wait for Page’s team to connect.

Why did Colby Covington reject ‘Machado’?

In a recent conversation on ‘Submission Radio’, Covington addressed Garry’s proposal to fight him at UFC 303. However, ‘Chaos’ straight up rejected it. He declared that he wanted a bigger paycheck, and to move forward in the rankings. Fighting Garry would simply not help him grow in the current MMA race.

Covington said, “So, it doesn’t matter if I fight this schmuck or some other schmuck. But either way, you know, I preferably like to go forward, you know. I want to be back in the title picture.” Furthermore, he showed his disappointment at Garry for not standing up to the three stipulations he previously provided him with. Thereafter, he rejected the idea of fighting the Irish mixed martial artist.
